Oh god i would love this back. My other BBs miss her. But times is hard.

    Ben.

I know what you mean, If it wasn't the fact i need a new head I wouldn't be selling it... I got to be honest though the longer its still with me the more I'm thinking of taking off for sale as it is a nice change to the other basses I own and it looks pretty rock and roll :D

  2. I have a Peavey TKO 400 watt combo which has been doing me great so far, nice and loud and produces the sounds I like. But as I use it so often for practice and gigs I want to make sure I get as much life out of it as possible and take some pressure of the 1x15 speaker that's built in so I was thinking about getting an extension cab.

I've read up that i need a cab that has a tolerance of no less than 8ohms but im not sure on what cab would be best to get, I read somewhere that another 1x15 is the best option but having no experience I wouldn't know if that's true, also what kind of wattage would I need to be looking at?

  3. I have no experience with coated string and as there are so many companies bringing their take on them out I wanted to know which were the best you can buy.

Checking out strings direct they have Ernie Ball Cobalt sets, Elixirs, DR Extra Life, Daddario EXP and Dean Markley Cryo-tech string.

All raging the same kind of price and all promising the same thing but which (if any) are the best?

Its worth mentioning that im looking for nickel strings and not steels.

Very nice. Why on earth would you trade for another Yamaha? It will sound the same. As for Peavey or anything else, my god you're crazy. : )

You would be surprised, the newer TRB series do sound different and plus even if its trading for another TRB it would be a different colour so just a change of scenery really :)

What kind of strap are you using? If it's a slippy nylon one then try a wide leather strap with a grippy suede back or one of those neoprene comfort type straps. Cheaper and a lot less hassle than changing tuners.

Im currently using a Levi 3" leader strap with a rough suede back and it still seems to be quite bad, would the height of the strap make a difference?

A set of Hipshot tuners cured the neck dive on my BB. I think Schaller and Gotoh make something similar. They need to be made of aluminium.

Ahh cool thanks will look into that, how much am I going to have to spend?

  6. This might have all ready been covered so apologies if it has but I'm looking for a cure to the neck dive with my BB415, I have read else where that new tuners will do the job, is there anything that could work? If not what tuners do I need to be looking at and how much money will I be I looking at?

  7. Another big fan of picato, I use their nickel round wounds which sound great and seem to last be ages even though they are under pretty heavy use.

Been thinking of buying a half round set, I used their flats too which I loved so I can't see why I wouldn't like the halfs!

  8. Thats great thanks will check it out =) I think these were out around the mid 90's but would be nice to know for sure.

Also I noticed the pick ups looks awfully similar to the ones in my TRB... are they the same?

  9. So I won the auction, picked it up for £143, I got to say its in perfect condition not a scratch on it, sounds wonderful and feel great to play i am very happy with it, could be one of the best deals I've had so far. Pic below.

So what do we think? Good deal?

Does anyone know when these were made?

  10. Up for sale/trade is my Yamaha TRB 5-II in amber burst made in Japan.

A really high quality instrument which plays like an instrument three or four times above its price tag. It has a wide variety of tones and is capable of fitting in in any environment.

I have put it up for sale/trade as I fancy a change of scenery and want to explore other basses out there.

Its about 13 years old, no scratches, marks or bumps its in flawless condition and is a joy to play, a fluent neck which feels really nice in the hand and has a very comfortable low action.

Included is the original hard case, candy and manual.

Although I have stuck it up for sale i would rather a trade, I will review any offers but ideally im looking for either another Yamaha, Peavey, G&L, Overwater by Tanglewood or Fender.

No longer selling as I have some new found love for it and might not get a chance to get another one if I get rid!

  11. Worst one for me was my starter bass, a Gigsby P bass. I just couldn't get any decent volume out of it, a mouse sneezing would of made more noise and the saddles were sharp and managed to sheer through my E string after a month or so. And yet 5 years on I still miss it (a bit).

  12. Weight isn't a big issue for me I have a good supportive strap so that will help, the one I'm going for is in excellent condition no scratches or marks, strings are a bit old but I have spares so no issue for me, I'm currently the winning bidder at £104 I will be stoked if I can get it for that price :-)
