4.
I've just finished speaking to Jon. He's in the process of clearing as much up as he can and preparing for the deluge forecast over the weekend. Sandbags and wellies seem to be the order of the day. His wood store escaped from being flooded (which is a great relief - some of the stuff in there is fantastic) and he's basically got the floor area around some of the machines to dry out. He's not planning on moving anything back until after the weekend at the earliest. The best bit of news is that my bass is 2-3 weeks away. Rar!
I was up there last weekend before the flood .. he had a stunning fretless hollowbody there he was just stringing .. Not yours was it? Oh and Dr Dave I have a few pics of yoru st@tu$ body if you'd like them. Jon just had time to fit a mast an dsail before the deluge hit .. PM me? OG

  6.
Looks great - the next bass I get is going to have a maple fingerboard - they're stunning... May I enquire as to how much you had to part with to get that? I'm looking at getting a fretted 5 at the moment so considering all the options... Cheers John
John That man Jon Shuker does a fine custom ... Rich on this board has a very nice 5 string Shuker jazz style with a gorgeous maple board ... and you aren't that far from Sheffield (foot note required by forum bylaw 662.57 : Other bass luthiers are available)

    P-T-P's Feedback
I haven't bought anything else off Pete, but I just thought I'd like to reiterate what a nice guy he is. We all sat and had a lovely chat round at Si's the other night, was a great way to spend an hour or so. I had a go on his fabulous Lakky too, and now guess what I'm GASsing for? And there I was, thinking I was all bassed up. Pete's just a nice bloke to be around.
+1 on that He bought my GT6B and is very pleasant (so is his lakky DJ and his dog OG
  9.
There's the short-scale sound as well. Which also brings to mind that muddy sound typified by an EB-3 or Telebass. And also the semi-sound of the Rivoli/EB-2 - rounded attack and often less sustain.
Ah yes .. Andy Fraser in Free and John Wetton on Family's glorious track "Burlesque"

    Zoom B2.1u

Well I sold the GT6B to P-T-P (cheers Pete, lovely Daryl Jones lakkie) and hit the high street yesterday for the B2.1u.. Initial thoughts are that the pre-programmed sounds are not quite as good as those in the GT6B but I'm not that fussed about that as it's just for slight colourings playing live. I just have to get to grips with the programming by Saturday night Nice and small though Anyone sussed the settings for sledgehammer? OG

    MARK BASS
Surely eBay is the place for a secondhand laptop bag? I got a new Dell lappy recently, and it came with a bag which I don't want to use. I looked at selling it on the bay, but it wasn't worth doing, as they only fetch a tenner or so. So I'll be using that bag for bunging my LM250 in instead
Ebay is covered with new laptop bags for about £6 delivered (thats £1 for the bag, £5 for the P+P) That's what I have so far but a Maplins foam lined aluminium case is looking like a better option for protection, assuming it's big enough. Maplins case £15

    MARK BASS
lol, yeah, when I used my old big MB head, Korg Rack Tuner and wireless all in a Gator 4U it kind of made it easier (if not heavier). Still, only need a little rig now, so this will do nicely. Thanks for your help
This came up in another thread today - double gig bag on wheels with big pocket... http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_double_bag...artner_id=82764 Ibanez make a bunch of interesting bags with mark bass sized pockets attached ... Mind you I'm not sure I want my bass and amp sharing a gig bag ...
  13.
I'll be honest when I read the title I was thinking of that "Spinal Tap" moment at the army base...I'm now slightly disappointed Yeah I'd just say try throwing some tin foil on it...
I finally got it down to a reasonable level by repositioning the radio ariel... Thanks for everyone's help
  14.
How large is the front pocket. Do you think you could fit a Mark Bass Little Mark II? (http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua=en&cat=1&vedi=69)
Yeah Im interested in that very question myself
  15.
Well I bought the double ibanez bag from thoman - it's excellent for the money. Appear to pretty well made, decent padding and the wheels are handy. Hopefully it'll last a few years. Cheers John
How heavy is it? Is it bulky?
  16.
to be honest I haven't counted the frets in the pic- I asked for 22 but i just wanted to see how it would look in general r
Well it looks absolutely brilliant anyway
  17.
Its a nylon jobbie with nylon webbing, double stitching and a thick foam padded interior lined with light grey velvet. There is a divider made from the foam/velvet combo separating the basses from one another. The only downer is that the pockets aren't big enough to carry my fold up stands so I'll have to work around that.
Cheers .. so is this one you've knocked up on your hand driven Singer in the back room out of old paracutes or can you tell us the make, price, website?
