And a lot of the time what you're paying for is the prestige of a brand name.
Well yes.. and playing a Name bass transfers that prestige to the person wearing it. You pay your extra dollar for the benefits these things bring. These no name basses may easily as good as a name bass, the savings being in the costs of manufacture, but there's so much more to the "value" of a bass than the way it looks, plays and sounds.
 2. Well I'm still arguing with the Post Office and that's 4.5 months since the bass was killed in their care. Maybe if everyone kept their fingers crossed and send good full moon vibes and nice thoughts at Post Office Customer Services department it may get sorted out ... OG
 3.
Recently a mate of mine spent an unproductive hour down the bar trying to convince anyone who'd listen that he detests all hip hop and rap music. "What all of it?" "Yep." "Even that overwhelmingly enormous part of the genre to which you have yet to be exposed?" "Huh?" " I mean you hate music you haven't even heard yet?" "Yep" "But that's impossible" "Nope, if it's hip hop I hate it" Needless to say more knowledgeable people than myself cleverly spent the rest of the evening dropping artists who fit comfortably into the hip hop genre into the conversation ,most of whom he professed a liking for.
'Tis the ol' "boxes" problem. Things have to be in neat categories for some people ..
Do they take part in any weekend warrior stuff I bet thats a great money spinner with all them 40's50's year old retired muso's, I've always seen them at the indie Music shops never SC.
Weekend Warrior is a Sound Control initiative .. Us old people have loadsa money but we also have wisdom - and the Interwebnet - so some maybe up to pay OTT SC prices and put up with poor service but I imagine most shop elsewhere Having said that if the WW programme gets older people out playing after a break for kids abnd careers and stuff then all power to it.

I bet she likes Let there be love by Nat king Cole or The Shape of Things To Come by Ornette Coleman or Knda Blue by Miles Davis or Wonderful World by Sachmo' or Jumpin' jive by Joe Jackson or Louis Joran or the Koln Concert by Keith Jarret
 7.
Am I the only one who hates Motown music?
How can you hate a whole lable's output? That's like saying I hate Jazz
 8.
Some nice songs in there. We do Nutbush City Limits as well. It's a cracking song. I'd never heard it before until I had to learn it. There's a couple of others in the list that are also in our set (Hard to Handle roxors), but there's a fair few I've never heard of. I grew up in a musical vaccum so I've been filling in the gaps over the last couple of years. I've not heard of most of the songs you've got listed so I'll have to track them down and have a listen. Thanks again for the list.
Wow have you got a fine few months ahead of you... I'd love to re-live the excitement of hearing the Stax and Atlantic soul catalogues for the first time ...
 9.
We had a sax player with us for this gig which kinda influenced the songs chosen.
Hey Ever play my way? We played a wedding reception on Saturday. At the end we put cheese CD's through our PA for 45 minutes - without the Smashy and Nicey inane prattle between, just music.. On the way out our caller/singer/melodeon player/joint front man heard someone ask who he was as he carried some gear out "oh he's the DJ" someone said .. hummmmm 3 hours of live music and the only thing they'll remember is Dancing Queen on the CD ...
 10.
One of my regular music stores in Christchurch, New Zealand has done exactly this for exactly those reasons.
Maybe we should call Sound Control's bosses and offer some consultancy
 11. Generally speaking I think that Soundcontrol could do a very simple thing and turn their business around. The vast majority of moans about them are not about prices, stock, getting stuff or anything like that. Their problems are almost all about staff attitude. A national staff training programme and a better hiring process and the whole thing would be changed beyond measure.
 12.
anyone heard anything about them? they seem to have a very good spec for the price take this 6 string: http://www.themusicking.co.uk/proddetail.p...t=16&nav=12 what ya reckon?
There's only one way to find out ... get one, try it and let us know
