Well overpriced for me. Sabre necks from 79 are often duff, the neck and body are ugly, and only the wood is ‘original’.

Subjective I suppose, but too risky for me, even at £1k.

The reason I ask is that I recently saw a Sabre neck sell for about £800 - Ray body of that era could sell for anything around £5-800. All the other bits, replaced with the originals, could add £100.

This makes the bass (in original condition) retail for around £1700, possibly more.

I'm not a Ray fan, I've only ever had one that I really liked. I would have thought that somebody who wanted a real early Ray might want this to renovate.

Wow, £800 as a final sale price is bonkers! I sold a 79 fretless Sabre neck a few years back, for about 450-500,  I thought that was at the higher end. The body being stripped makes it less desirable for me. But, all subjective eh?

One thing is for sure, that’s a fugly bass 😂
