1. I've just ordered the 12" white cone cab , It might arrive today , I'm going to a/b it against my Barefaced super compacts via my ABM1000 I'll report back.
2. After trying several set ups , as I use a Roland GR55 I've re programed it to mix the bass & synth sounds to one out put , I've got rid of my monitor & use the ABM1000 & Super compact as a monitor ( I'm trying the new Ashdown White coned speaker tomorrow as that has a tweeter ) . This set up I can use in small pubs & don't have to carry active subs & bigger venues the ABM & cab isn't any more hassle to carry than a monitor plus I can plonk the PA mixer on top of it .
3. I'm thinking about getting a Ashdown 12" white coned lightweight cab to see how it compares to my barefaced super compacts , The Ashdown is rated at 300w & the Barfaced 600w both 8 ohms If both were connected to the same 4 ohm amp , would the Ashdown 300w cab be driven harder ?
4.
Sterling is the brand, like Squier is to Fender, bit daft as it's also a model made by Ernie Ball Musicman. As for fitment I'd check with Status direct.
Email sent
5. Does anyone know if the Status Neck fits this model ? I'm a bit confused as it has Sterling & Stingray in the title ?
6. Might be interested in a trade for a British made bass
7.
IME on all gigs, even the smallest, a little PA support for the Bass drum tightens up the sound of the whole band.
I think it depends on the quality of the bass drum & Skin , Those cone/funnel skins sound brilliant .
8. It was comparing a load of small cabs & someone mentioned a Maplin cab ?
9. When I do go through the PA , I found the Ashdown & Barefaced is easier & lighter than a decent Monitor , I do have the Ashdown graphic with DI pedal for back up though .
10.
What about the kick drum?
No mic needed in a small pub , but if he wants to He can set it up
11. I've been experimenting with this a lot , I use a barefaced super compact with a Ashdown ABM head for small gigs as it saves me carrying two active subs for the PA .
12. I had one of mark Kings 400 plus heads & it was the most disappointing amp I've had & I was given that . IMHO.
13. I was watching on youtube a cab shoot out by members on here , what was the out come ? thanks .
14. https://www.facebook.com/PhilJonesPureSound/videos/10203599356304693/ I think this may resolve my problem
15.
This is a common problem for mountain bikers (where injuries are a lot more common than in bass playing). Big crash = accidental new bike purchase! I had a small but painful crash a couple of weeks ago = new tyres...
Funny you should say that , this was done on my mountain bike .
16. My trouble is that I've had an injury & been unable to gig & it gives me far too much time to think about & find fault with equipment .
17. I nearly bought that when I saw it , nice ,
18. Thanks for the advice , I'll best leave well alone .
19. I just want to hear what it sounds like I might like it I might not ( with the tweeter ), I'll let you know .
20. I'm thinking about taking the speaker out of one of my Barefaced super compacts & trying it in a Ashdown cab with a tweeter , to see what its like . they have the same 8 ohms & the barefaced has twice the watts . Or can I damage anything ?
21. Thanks for every ones comments
22. From what I have seen the 2 x10" would suit the rock stuff I do , jam/ stranglers / yes type sounds , & the Super compact for cleaner, sounds . so would mostly treated as two separate rigs . I do have 2 super compacts & have gigged with both once , the ABM1000 was only on about 20% & it was deafening ,far too loud . & my idea of plonking the 2 x10 on top of the 12" for larger stages might help with clarity / projection of top end .
23. A friend of mine has a 1 x12 & 2 x10 Tc rig & it's the best live sound I've heard , but there's me only wanting to buy UK made stuff .
24. Just a couple of questions How many watts would you get from a 12ohm cab run from a 1000w 4ohm amp ? and could you run safely a 8ohm & 12ohm cab together from a 1000w 4ohm amp ? I'm thinking of having two cabs for two different type bands but able to use them together for large gigs or maybe the two cabs wouldn't work to well together .
25. If that was my cab I'd send it back to BF I'm sure they would sort that finish out . For me that's not expectable for such a high end cab of that age.
