1. I had an HH amp & cab in the 80's, at the time it was cheaper than the better known alternatives and I thought it sounded better, played some reasonable size gigs with a six piece Jazz band, drummer, two horns, guitar, keyboards and me and it held its own, never let me down. Used to sound great. I'm sure amps have progressed a lot since then but at £40 would you get anything newer/better?

3. No worries, Thanks for letting me know.
4. Guys, I'm being a wuss, I've just missed a CM parametric eq on e-bay cause I couldn't make me mind up. Seems to do what I want but not tried one, anyone got any experience, want fine tuned eq without noise. Also considering Yamaha NE1 but none about at the mo.
5. Hi, Did this go or is it still available? Cheers

Bass EQ

Did think about it, not sure about the sliders on a pedal board, was swaying toward pots, maybe I need to re-think, are they noisy?

Bass EQ

Hi Guys & Gals, Wondered if anyone had any suggestions about pedalboard based eq. Have been looking at MXR & Carl Martin. Sometimes when gigging, I have to stand a way away from my amp, which is a phil Jones Suitcase with a 4B extension (great amp by the way) and I need to adjust the tone or volume. I was thinking of using an MXR Bass DI or a Cart Martin 3 Band Parametric Pre-Amp, the tone control on my Jazz Bass (which I love) is pants and, if I try and adjust the volume it affects my tone, I have a small pedal board with a Korg Pitchblack Plus, an EBS Unichorus, an EBS Multicomp and an MXR AutoQ all powered by a T-Rex Fueltank, It is all silent. I can get any tone I want from the Amp, I just want to tweak it from out front. Would buy an EBS Micro Bass ar an Aguilar Tone Hammer tomorrow if I had the money but I haven't, will probably be trawling e-bay for my solution. Would really appreciate any suggestions/comments etc.
8. Hi Guys, Anyone got opinions on the best tuners for a Jazz Bass. Bought a Mex 60's Jazz bass a while back which I love the feel and sound of, but after a while I got fed of with the Fender bridge which was flimsy and imprecise, and replaced it with a Badass II which is superb. I now want to put a decent set of tuners on cos the Fender ones are pants and are not smooth at all (got to say, having waited a lifetime for a Fender, I was gutted with the quality of the setup and the hardware, but, if you want the sound, what can you do). Anyway, a while back I changed the tuners on an Ibanez to Gotoh's and they were fantastic, so I thought I would do the same with the fender. Hipshots are too expensive, so I'm looking at Gotoh GB-29LN's or Schaller BMFL's unless anyones got other suggestions in this price range. Has anyone got any words of wisdom. Cheers

10. Hi, Just bought an EBS Unichorus - Awesome - Very subtle but quality. Built like a brick. http://www.basscentre.com/bass-effects/ebs-multi-comp.html - £147, well worth the extra £27 if you can stretch to it. Used a Boss before but too noisy.
11. Hi, Depends on the Bass. Had an Ibanez and bought an EBS multicomp. Despite the Bass being active, the multicomp didnt do much, then updated to a passive Fender Jazz and I am now in love with the multicomp. If you adjust the internal trim pot, which is a doddle, you can go from subtle to very fierce compression. Previously had Boss LMB's, OK but very noisy, I find the EBS silent. Mine came from the Bass Centre http://www.basscentre.com/bass-effects/ebs-multi-comp.html, £125.
12. Hi all, Have a beautiful mexican 60's re-issue Jazz which I love. My only dissapointment is the pots. Could anyone advise me on the best replacement pots to get, seems like CTS is the standard and linear for volume and audio for tone. Any advice would be much appreciated, also, would changing the pots change the tone which I don't want to do. Cheers. Ossie
