Must of missed any threads about this, but just listening now.
Great idea and sounds very professional.
Well done all involved.

Sure sign of GAS - inventing a new category of playing context for which to require a new bass: live - check, recording - check, ah 'jam nights!' Need a JD.. and what about... 'Fretless jam nights!? You need to get that sorted pretty quick too.
Don't forget the classic general purpose 'beater' but I guess your road-worn fulfills that category.
'FRETLESS BEATER!' (Sorry bass Tourettes)
"Nail on the head" I think.
I have a fretless and some beaters already. Slap and tickle I have been perfecting at home now for many years

I would have thought the WAL would give you the excitement you need and far more so than the Jaydee.
I always fancied a Jaydee too for some odd reason but wouldn't recommend them as they are a specific sound to me. Not as good as i had hoped tho.
Dave
Thanks.
The Wal does now do it all Very happy with it and what I use all the time now with the bands I play in.
I still fancy the idea of that old skool vibe with the jaydee and light strings for a bit of slap and tickle at home. Maybe I'll take Si's advice and take time to save a bit and see if I really want to move the Roadworn on. The 73 I have a lot of history with and has done the majority of my gigs until getting the Wal.
Edit. Wish I could get my hands on one locally, might extinguish the Gas

You’re considering selling a Precision to buy a Jaydee....for recording purposes?!
......said no-one ever lol
Want the perfect recording bass, keep a Precision, if you want something flashy for a jam night, then maybe the Jaydee is perfect, but that’s about it lol.
Si
I have 2 P's so I'm covered there.
The P's are great for recording and a live band, but a bit boring to play on their own at home (if you know what I mean?) the Wal is doing all the live work for me now and I'm loving the results.
I'm not in any hurry to make a decision, but have been gassing a bit more recently for one.

Since getting My Wal at the beggining of the year I have hardly touched any of my other basses ( 2 Fender P's mainly) except for a bit of play at home and out in the garden
Been gassing to get a Jaydee for a while as something I'd enjoy playing at home and might use for some recording and jams. Now the hard decision is that I would have to sell the more valuable of my P basses to be able to afford a (used) Jaydee, thing is the P is a 73 and the best sounding and playing P I have ever had and I have had a few older and newier. I'm thinking that maybe one Precision is enough to own and the Roadworn is a close 2nd to the 73. Not sure what to do,?Thought I'd put it out there for any advice.

I have been using the Fender Rumble 500 v3 for about 3 years now, used nearly every gig and practice at least once a week,
Ben a bargain and I'm still happy with it.

But can it do metal?
To be honest, I think it could.
The bass might need a few more strings tho..

SkinTrade. We had single of the week in RAW magazine, appeared on ITV but people had stopped making this sort of music around '91 / '92. We were still a couple of years behind the times. Good times. Sadly, I'm the only one who kept playing.
Thanks, you guys certainly had "the look".Just wondered if I ever caught you live. Hanoi Rocks I saw a few times live , they used to play with The Cuddly Toys (who remembers them) Guess that was mid-80's

When it's really fun, you get the buzz and so does the audience, people dancing and having a good time. Not too hard a load in or out, some pay for your trouble, a decent stage and pa, good sound, the list can go on.

@Highfox now you’ve had it a while how are you finding it?
I haven't really touched any of my other basses since getting it (I think it might be the one)

AKG D5 here as well for main vox's and my backing. We have SM-58 and 57's as well in use on guitars and other bv's

I think some NYXL's and Elixrs are on my list to try.
Been using the bass centre Elites and Stadiums, been very good value I get 8-9 months out of a set of them. Still 2 packs to go lol.

Only one bit of seller's remorse here
Fender Precision sunburst/maple/tortoise shell - bought brand new from Guitar Village in Shaftesbury Avenue, London in October 1973 (and I have still got the receipt). Sold in January 1978, to a music shop in Colchester (Oasis Music if i remember correctly).
Big big mistake - but needs must when the devil (the bank manager at the time) drives.
Chris
I have one of those
I must of been lucky so far and not regretted any yet. (close is the Wal pro I exchanged for a Warwick custom build back in the 80's, but went on to use the Warwick for another 15 years.
Normally I have exchanged for another bass and not just funds.

A lot, if..i can remember them
I even forget our own songs if we haven't played them in a while.

I keep buying Rays and then selling them because there's just something missing in the sound (for me, obv: YMMV, IMHO and all that), and then I see someone else playing one and I want another. I've had four now, but in the meantime I've kinda scratched the itch with a Nordy Bigman in my one-pickup Shuker (Ray pickup shape, in the right place) which can sound verrrry close to a Ray with the coils paralleled...
They're a very good-looking bass: if I had the spare cash, I'd have another: I'd always have one, even if I didn't use it all that much.
Yes, very nice basses, love the playability, I have had 2 but couldn't get them to work for me, always fiddling with the controls. Not sure why as when I have listened back to any live stuff they have sounded nice
Enjoy the bass.
Albums you've really tried to love...
