  1. Decided to sell off the Aggie Th500 I had been using mainly as a stand by.

I have been using the Rumble 500 and (sometimes) a 210 extension cab for most of my gigs the past few years..decided I like the slightly overdriven and compressed sound I get from the Rumble.. ..anyway long story short a Bassman 500 was going locally and managed to pick it up for the same price I sold my TH for. Happy camper with the Bassman so far and might trade a spare cab I have to stick a 115 or another 210 under what I have now and keep the Rumble 500 combo for smaller gigs or when I can’t be bothered to shift the other stuff.

    Looks cool, sounds great!imageproxy.php?img=&key=4b3806f48250f55a5237D535-04E9-4911-9DEA-B24A55EBD1CB.thumb.jpeg.cf1b914f6e13e6e55c89d592abdc3711.jpeg

Any thoughts on the above folks ?????

Had one, but didn't really get on with it.

Never could find the sound I wanted for some reason. Gone back to a Sansamp for DI purpose when I need, find it a lot more flexible tone- sculpting wise.

Plus the SCR was a battery hog, if not running it off mains!

  3. Dave, thanks, He has been suffering from them for years and has regular medication to try stop them coming also when he gets attacks.. They don't know what is causing it, they have tried everything they can to try find out why and stop them! Still on-going regular treatment.

I think it's a mixture of many things causing him to quit unexpectedly like this.. I have to respect his decision of course, we are still friendly and plan to keep in contact.

Thanks for all the kind words.

  4. 5 years together and the singer guitarist decides to call it quits! Unexpected as we had gigs lined up and plans to record our new tunes etc.

He suffers from bad migraines and often has to medicate himself before we do any live shows. Very sad he suffers badly with these.

I just feel like a huge whole has been left, we gigged regular and that was my main social scene. The band was a trio and I felt musically I was developing my playing all the time, and was free to go wild :)

I do have another band on the go, but they are a little less active. The energy is there to do something fresh but hard work trying to get something off the ground again. The going scene here is metal, rock and blues.. ok  but not really earth moving or different.

I'm sure we have all been there but just wanted to share (as always)

  5. Congrats.

I had one in the same flavor. Lusted after one for many years.

Enjoy and hope it all works out and you find a keeper.

(I had some issues with the saddles on mine, was a bit disappointed after it costing so much)

This thread is quite a contrast to the other, old thread about how poor CS was at the BC before it closed down.

Actually, I didn't feel I got that great cs when I was in there (just the once) But they did let me try any bass I wanted and left with the Warick and px'ed my passive pro Wal ,so can't of been that bad. I did live in West London so it was a bit of a journey out to Wapping  or at least it seemed so at the time.  Was Rose Morris for me "the store of dreams" lol.

I went there in the early 90's to try an Alembic Stanley Clarke (only place in the country that had one), I had a Jaydee Supernatural at the time & thought the Alembic would be an upgrade. Got to test the SC against a Jaydee roadie they had in & the Jaydee was IMHO much better!!! Whilst there I tried a Graphite neck Vigier that had just the sound I wanted at the time but it was fretless, they didn't have a Status in at the time but I got to try one later in Birmingham & fell in love!!

Great shop, great staff very helpful & just let you try stuff. Those were the days!! Wouldn't of had the chance to compare & find out without them.

Still got My Jaydee & still play Status to this Day

    Brendan

    Nice one.

I have been gasing for a Jaydee for a good while now! Great to hear people are still happy with them :)

    One day!

  9. Yes, that place, who remembers it?

Just came across an old and tatty receipt I had for the Warwick I bought from Wapping.

Think I told the tale before, went there with the anticipation of buying a MM 4 HH they didn't have any so walked out the door with a Streamer. used it for a solid 15 years  so no regrets.

Is that a public image t shirt 😀

Yes it is. That was 79 and Wobble was King for me. That was our first gig at the local youth club, only started playing bass a few weeks before.  Remember it like yesterday! We only knew 3 songs Public Image , pretty Vacant and a dodgy version of White riot. We played each song about 3 times until nearly everyone had left. Our drummer was good tho :)

  11. :) Ditto!

My first 'real' bass was a Kay from Woolworths, with a truly dreadful 15W 'Audition' amp and cab, too. The action was OK if you could afford a taxi from the strings to the fretboard... which I couldn't at the time. Still, it's nice to have these instruments, if only to make you realise just how far we've come with budget basses!

    Ditto!

A few years back now :)

World is a very different place now - especially for music, and within that guitar-based rock...

Fun times... still got my Blazer from around this time too (from Curly Music in Liverpool. The bassist from the Icicle Works was working there at the time.)

Yes, I'd like to think my playing has come on a bit since then, definitely broadened my musical palette over the years. ( a friend of mine still has that Blazer bass, I gave it to him to look after)

  13. I'm a little scared to write I still think I have a few more than I need.

I only use one or 2 max with the bands so really don't NEED the others,  but I do enjoy having them and they are always out on the stands at home to use.

I think 4 would do it for me :)  a fretless, P bass, my Wal and the (gassing for) Jaydee :)

Each to their own I guess.
