1.
I asked a similar question recently (see below thread link)

http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;#entry1301011
Thats fine and I read that thread! but my questions were more aimed toward anyone using Gallien Kruger neo's and the Shuttle 6 and 4ohm vs 8 in cab choice with that specific amp.

2. Hi Guys.
Hopefully you aren't tired of these kind of endless threads. I have been trying on my own first honest!
I'm after a little bit of advice with regards to matching up a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 that I have just bought with a decent fairly lightweight cab, to be used for gigs rehearsal etc. I'm using a 2x10 combo atm, but feel like it's not moving enough air and lacking some bottom end.
Another problem being there are no decent music shops near me that carry any range of stuff that I can try first and the secondhand market is very slow here! So it will be through Thomann or similar.

I was looking at the Barcefaced Super 12 but seems like they might run a bit over budget for me atm. I like the idea of a 2x12, I was looking at the GK neo stuff, anyone use them? How do they match up with GB heads? GK 2X12
Any other options around that budget I should be looking at?
and... would I be better off going 4ohm and a single cab to get the full wattage out of the shuttle or maybe go 8ohm and try and match 2 cabs? Volume- wise I do ok now with my TC Electronic BG500 combo
Thanks..

Edit. I did the right thing in digging deep and ordering a Barefaced Super twelve :)

3. Great that the Chromes did it for you, I tried them on a fretless I had but found them a bit too high tension and brite for my taste, even after a few months playing them.
I now swear by La Bella 760FL's they are on my P and J and the only string I can see myself buying for a while to come :) it's nice when the search is over lol.

4. I've only had one early 92 Mexican (standard, I think thats what they call them?) Fender Jazz bass and it was very disappointing to say the least, I bought it blind without trying!
I also have a 2009 USA jazz, but decided to spend a bit of money getting DiMarzio Noiseless pickups installed on the MIM to try get rid of the awful buzzing from the stock pickups and also try give it a bit more punch but it was still a let- down, that has convinced me that I'm better off going straight for the USA versions than trying to mod what was in my case an inferior bass (it was a lemon).
You do pay a bit more but should get some return on a USA Fender if you need to sell.

I have read that the later model Standard MIM's are better and they could well be, but in my case I won't be buying another, or if I do it will be one I can get my hands on and try first, lesson learned.

5. I just visited my Luither today and asked him about aging in instrument's woods and the differences it can make, he reckons as the wood gets older the canals in the wood open up more and form small bubble chambers, the sound can then resonates in (more, many) different directions throughout the wood and thus he reckons opens the sound up more. No idea but thats what he told me and he loves his wood :)

As many people have said it's how it sounds and feels to you that makes the instrument special.

6. I have been using the 210 version for almost a year now and can't really fault it. I find It's very versatile in it's sounds (maybe because I had been using a Trace Elliot GP 12 for the past 20 years lol)
It could be a bit heavy for some, but for me it lives at rehersals and only gets carted off to gigs a couple of times a month, It's nice and feature rich if your looking for a combo.

7. As the title says summer is here in Finland and I like nothing more than going through a few lines practicing sitting outside.
Thought I'd post a pic of how I do it (another hobby of mine is photography) :) Pandora PX5 and an ipod touch make the job easy.
(That's the P-bass I bought off Lozz here on Basschat, strung it with La Bella flats and it's been sweet)
Summer Rocks!
Hope the sunshines soon for you guys in the UK

8. Personal stuff but..
It was a definite intention for me after going to see the Clash for the first time and watching Simonon throwing his bass around and looking that cool, how could you not want in!..
......I was a big Public Image Ltd /Jah Wobble fan as well, bass was where it was (and still is) at for me. Thats all it took for a young impressionable 15 year old to get hooked on trying to playing bass.

9. Bought a loverly Fender P- Bass off Lozz.
He was a true Gent and even reserved the bass for me (with a small deposite) whilst I scratched the cash together.
It arrived safe and sound.
Top Guy.

10.
Much more interesting than I expected!
What happened to the Streamer? Looks like someone took out the bridge "J", invented a new position for it further up than the original neck pick-up.
I think the Bridge rout has been extended, such that the front coil of the MMHB sits where the old single-coil was. If the HHHB had a tap, that could give a lot of differing tones.
If done as explained above, the cost isn't even that great (assuming it had J/J Barts in the first place) I like it. Very clever. Ticks a lot of boxes without too much messing about.
I bought it brand new like that from the bass center in Wapping in 89.
I think it was some kind of custom model, and may of been just a one-off. Even the Guys at Warwick couldn't find out a lot of info about it.
I liked it a lot and it was the only bass I used for 20 odd years. Great sound with a lot of punch. Weighed a ton tho.
It went off to a guy in Norway in the end.

11. Anyone interested in buying a defretted Fender jazz? The pups have been upgraded to DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz Bass Pickups.
I bought it last Summer as I wanted to try out fretless bass, had some pro work done on the neck and setup as well as getting the new pickups installed. Sounds and plays well, but fretless is not for me I'm afraid :)
The bass would have to ship from Finland as thats where I'm located, it has a hardcase that would keep it safe for any postage, tho the case is not much of a looker.
€ SOLD
