hey guys
would these:-
http://www.ebay.co.u...76#ht_540wt_721

be the right length etc to get for my Fender Classic 50's P Bass?

I'm sure they will fit if the bass is toploadable, La Bella don't reccomend string tru.
I myself use the slightly lighter FL version.

Just ordered a set of La Bella medium gauge Deep talkin`flats. I sooooo want to be a flats-player, as though I`ve used Rotos for years, and certainly can`t find any rounds to better them, there`s still something missing. I think it`s that rounds twang, and to get a thump from them, you have to wait til they`ve died.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, fellow Basschatters.

Good choice Lozz, I have all my bass's strung with the FL's.
They take a week or 2 to break in and then start to keep on sounding better imo.
I even prefer the slap sound I get out of them to rounds.. (I don't slap much, but for the odd bit of a song)!

I just got a 1977 Precision, Don. Vintage white, which after 34 means yellow. 10lbs in weight, plays and sounds fantastic. There some definate mojo about the older ones. Only problem is, they cost an arm & a leg!

Yes I saw that bass! and it might of been what kicked off my lust to try find something just like it. So I can blame you lol.
Hopefully something will turn up here at some point where the seller is willing to ship.

4. This week I got to try out my new 600 with the band.
@ 4 ohm through my GB Neox212t I didn't have to set the master past 10 0clock with the gain and volume sat at 12 to get a fat, warm and articualte sound. Lots of power left in the tank should I need it.
I had been using and was happy with the Shuttle 6, but now find the extended rounder low end I'm getting with the 600 nice as well as being able to dial down the gain and get a pretty clean uncolured sound if needed as well at least to my ears.
Nice amp! 600 or 900 good choice np.

Here we go, that's the 62' Pre CBS I throw in.

For all the other basses, please PM if interested, thanks

Nice! Just out of curiosity and if you don't mind the question, how much might a bass like that be worth?

6. I can't really help you decide... but can tell you I have been using a BG500 for over a year and a half now and had no real problems with it other than the little preset buttons falling out. Which has surprised me as I have been half expecting it to clap out, as I'm a beleiver in you only get what you pay for.
I'd say it's pretty good value for money, has a lot of features and you can get a wide range of sounds out of it, it's also pretty loud and I had no problems with it keeping up with the band 2 fairly loud guitars etc.
It has now been demoted to my home practice and standby amp, it lacked a little bottom end for the sound I was after and also the DI out on mine seemed to distort the signal post eq (not sure why that was)!
All in all a decent budget amp.. and if you buy from Thomann I know they have a decent returns policy, so I'm sure you'd be covered if you didn't like it.
Btw when I was looking at buying a combo I was also looking at the GK stuff and would of probablly bought the 212 combo if it had been available...
Good luck.

7. Ok so just a follow up on this.
My replacement Streamliner 600 just turned up in the post today :) a quick test (with some suggested settings from TB) and I think I'm going to like the warm fat sound I'm getting from this amp. I have to wait till band practice next monday to be able to put it properly through it's paces but it's got the potential so far to have no regrets on swapping it out for the Shuttle 6.0

8. They are great aren't they :)
Never know how much Kudos goes to Jonesy for writing them but they sure have a lot of feel to them
The London Calling album is just a masterpiece all round. God knows how much I have heard and played it ove the past 32 years but it never gets boring and there is always a track on there that will suit my mood.
Viva le Clash!
(it must be those white P-bass's doing it to you Lozz :) Grats on your purchase, sure is a beaut.

Yes, he was great in Pil. I have a feeling he also played bass on 4 be 2's "One Of The Lads" (sadly lost on 12" many years ago!)
I have dabbled in some of his later work (mid 90's), but it proved not to be a 'stayer'...perhaps I should have another look...?
Great song! I have 2 versions of it on 12" "one of the lads" and then it came out again as "another one of the lads" I heard that it was Youth from Killling Joke that played bass on it but that may of been it's second incarnation.

Edit: Cool I found a version on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyecFhGz3sY

10. I'm a big Wobble fan, he turned me onto playing bass with the grooves from PUblic Image Ltd.
I too have had the chance to chat to him a few times and he will always give you the time of day.
I followed him solo and caught him live whenever I could from the Human Condition up to the Invaders and a bit passed that... I could of been his no1 fan lol.
Since I stopped smoking the Jazz weed a good many years back I find it a bit harder to get into hypnotic music and haven't really follwed a lot of what he has done in the past 10 years or so.
The guy layed down some of the heaviest bass sounds I ever heard live and was never dissapointed in his groove or sound live.

11. The Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 I bought new a couple of months ago has started playing up and admits a crackle and whooshing sound through both outputs and headphone socket! (even when there is nothing plugged in) It could be the tube or some solder joint thats playing up. I tried the amp at several different places and the noise was always present :)
... Anyway long story short it's still under warranty and I also have the option to swap it for a different model and going to ask them to send me a Streamliner out in it's place, I had no problems with the sound I was getting from the 6 when it was working but thought I'd try out the Streamliner for a change after reading a few good reviews. (and I like new toys)

12. I'd say you'd be doing the wrong thing! The BG500 is ok for a budget amp whereas a MB should be quality gear. (never owned a MB, but heard them a lot)
My BG is now my home practice amp, it was missing some low end and punch for the sound I was after. It's been fairly reliable for a chinese made amp, tho I have lost a couple of the small preset memory buttons which is a bit of a pain, but I can dial the sounds in pretty easy now, knowing the amp. The post DI out seemed to distort/overdrive the signal a bit on mine as well, but gave it a colour to the sound I didn't mind.
My advice would be don't downgrade... if your looking to change amps keep it with the better know/ proven models.
