1. Hi guys, while I think I understand the concept of playing in front or behind the beat, what purpose does it serve? Can anyone give me some examples in popular music - rock stuff would be ideal Is it sometimes used to add a sense of urgency going into a chorus for example??
2. Cheers it's not that, I've 50GB of MP3s...and none of them work
3. Hi all, got an MP-BT1 for my birthday, but when I try playing MP3s I've downloaded to it, it comes up with 'unsuported format'. Any ideas?
4. I took advantage of Soundcontrol's offer, and now own an AKG guitar bug. It comes with a sticky velcro patch, which I presume is to stick the bug to the guitar. Which orientation would be best? I'm undecided what position will be least in the way for on the guitar stand, and also to not catch my strap. I'll be leaving the bug connected permanently. Does anyone else find the 'short' jack socket a bit too big?
5. Gong to get a Jazz in a month or so, and was considering a highway 1. Just branching out my search, I realise the 'proper' Laklands are a bit special, but what about the Skyline series? Are they more Epiphone than Gibson? (Was going to use the Squier analogy, but the Vintage reissues are quite nice ). Anything else to look for apart from CIJ (got a CIJ P which is ace). G&L maybe? Budget is £600 to £800 max.
6. I'm looking at a similar thing - which Jazz did you go for John?
7. 38 views and no-one wants them...are they too expensive? Both immaculate as I swapped them the day I bought the guitar.
8. Taken off my SX Jazz. Looking for £7 posted for both. Good condition. Also got a white SX Jazz scratchplate - free to good home
9. In very good condition - father-in-law gave it to me, not realising that I don't play guitar Couple of quid for postage would be nice...
10. Looking to swap my immaculate, never used set of SD Jazz antiquity 2s for a Precision pickup. These cost me well over £100, will also part ex for a lesser P pickup and a few quid. Still boxed.
11. Cheers, that's surprising...
12. Just been reading the latest issue of Bass Player (dated Jan 2008 with John Taylor on the cover). Can someone name the bass on page 68, top picture, amber coloured. Looks gorgeous, and would like to investigate further
13.
Must be at least £100 I'd have thought
Cheers, any advance on £100??
14.
where was that from as i've found a mijfender site in the uk
That was from Ishibashi in Japan, it's no ordinary MIJ. The model numbers coincide to the RRP in Japan - mine is a 105 DMC. Cost me 100,000 yen including delivery - saw one identical to mine in the Bass Cellar for £799... I would advise against buying one new in this country, you end up paying a couple of hundred quid more. Couple of emails to Ishibashi (obviously in English, or should that be Ingrish ) and the bass arrived the following week.
15. I was considering these a few months ago, and ended up getting an MIJ 62 reissue in Nitro...so it's shiny, but should wear nicely £500 including duty direct from Japan - and the gigbag is ace.
16. I'm swapping my Precision neck for a Jazz neck, so will have a spare MIJ P neck. Its from my MIJ reissue P with rosewood (or whatever the dark wood is) As new, only about 10 hours playing time on it - 0 fret wear. How much is it worth?
17. After having my 62 RI MIJ P for a few months, I have come to the conclusion that I will never get used to the neck. I'm going to change it for a jazz neck, but need to know if any US Jazz neck would fit. Obviosuly the MIJ Jazz neck will be identical, but what about US?
18.
jase, you interested in my japanese concert V? Dunno if you knew I was trying to shift it cause you weren't around. Search it in the basses section, £300.
Does that strike anyone else as being a bit cheeky? You could have just PMd him!!!
19. Here are the pics http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/7179694 James
20. I've decided to sell my first bass since I have just bought a Jap reissue PB. It's in excellent condition (bought in August), in sunburst and has served me well. Sounds meaty, very easy to play neck. Never gigged as I still play with headphones Would suit a beginner as a first bass, or as a backup (knocks the socks off my SX cheapie). If I can get around to it, I will put some new strings on it too. These Jacksons were £300 new!! Will include a slightly damaged hard case into the deal. Only downside is that I bought it as a shop demo, so it has 'USED' stamped into the back of the headstock. Offers around £100 please. Also got a Behringer TU300 tuner for sale, immaculate condition, can't get on with it, 3 weeks old £12 delivered. Buy the bass, and I'll throw in the Tuner. If anyone is interested, email me and I'll sort some photos out: JLElvin at googlemail.com (remove spaces and change the 'at'). Based in Hull, Yorkshire.
21. Photos a bit futher down the page!! Ok here's the deal. I always wanted a white strat back when I was a guitarist. Played a mates Strat deluxe and fell in love with the neck. As you are probably aware, they were never made available in white... So....I built a strat deluxe up, and had the body refinished in vintage white nitro. The refinisher had a bit of a backlog, and by the time he had got around to painting it, I'd switched to bass!! I haven't even collected it from him yet - so it wil be absolutely as new body wise. The strat consists of a maple neck with deluxe foil logo (from a 2003 Strat Deluxe), US body in Vintage white, traditional vintage trem (never liked the newer versions...) and a set of Vintage Alnico pickups. There's a bit of a vintage vibe here I am looking for offers over £500 (the refinish was £300), and prior to the refinish I've spent close to £800 in parts...also comes with a cheap tweed copy case. It is setup for tens, nice low action and has been setup to perfection (I am led to believe) - even had a fret dress. Here are examples of his work: <a href="http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/finish.html" target="_blank">http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/finish.html</a> Will swap it for a nice bass - would consider a highway 1 (newer version). I can put some cash into the deal also, for a more expensive bass. Will consider others too. You are best off emailing me direct, as I can get emails on my phone JLElvin at googlemail.com (obviously remove the spaces and change the 'at' - I am currently spam free and would like to stay that way!! ) I am based in Hull, Yorkshire, but can travel up to 300 miles for the right deal!! Welcome to come and try it out also. I've dropped the price down to offers over £500. If I can't get this type of money, then I'll have to keep it
22. Ill take the chorus.
23. OK here's the deal. I bought this from Thomman, but its arrived mildly scratched with some slightly ripped foam (don't you love DHL...). Thomman have agreed to replace it, but don't want me to return this one. Its perfectly usable, and looks as though it has been to a dozen gigs...so would be perfect for a gigging band/bassist (I'm using it to tidy up my guitar room, hence wanting it unmarked). Only condition is that it stays with me until the new one arrives (shouldn't be more than a few days). Oh, and it must be collected - as you can appreciate the box is quite large, and don't want the hassle and expense of posting it. First person to email me: JLElvin@googlemail dot com Off work all next week, so any time pickup is possible.
24. I'll take them!! How much for P&P? Do you have a Paypal account? Can you reply to my email address? Cheers, James
