  1. Fabulous bass. I’ve had a few old BBs over the years, absolutely awesome one and all. I’ve always been a flats guy on basses like this, but recently went back to rounds on my P basses, absolutely loving the punch. Doesn’t help you with your decision though soz.
  2. Take them all off when I don't like the feel or tone of them anymore, clean the fretboard, then fit new ones.... is there another way?
  3. “Which bass should I buy” threads are difficult to answer, because we’re not you…… but both basses you mention there are great choices. Yamaha BBs are brilliant at all price points. If it was me, today, I’d go Mustang with flats. Just a great combination in my opinion.
  4. All those basses… predominantly 60s Fenders and Foderas. Don’t let the cheap gig bags fool you
  5. When you live in a flat, and you have too much stuff…..
  6. A few more pictures to wet your whistle Lovely thing to play…. I completed the Tony Franklin fretless course on it.
  7. Yep, I’d agree with that
  8. I have limited experience with Thomann, other than two orders, a gig bag and a pedal, both got here quickly and without issue. Shout out to DHL, we use them all the time for work, fast reliable and friendly drivers…. again no issues. Just to redress the balance a bit.
  9. XB series, probably Korean 90s, but the exact model I don't know.
  10. Fabulous fretless, passing it on for what I paid…. Crazy comfortable, nice to play, all stock apart from the ramp. I made that, and it’s easily removed as it’s attached by double sided pads. I think it really adds to the playing experience. Light and ergonomic, Korean made, factory Grover tuners, active, a quality bass for not much money. Some marks but nothing major. No trades sorry, price includes getting it to you. I travel the country for work, so unless you’re in Cornwall or Inverness I should be able to either bring it to you or meet somewhere within reason.
  11. Squier Frank Bello with mods… Herrick Neodymium pickups CTS pots (Vol,Vol) Heavywight bridge Wilkinson tuners A really great bass, sounds amazing, modern and powerful output. No trades sorry, price includes getting it to you or meeting somewhere within reason. I travel the country for work, so unless you’re in Cornwall or Inverness, I can probably drive to you.
  12. What a great place Basschat is. A goldmine of information, support, conversation and of course GAS. I’ve been on here a long time, like many of you have. Some of you may be new, if you are, you’re welcome. I’ve had a lot of help here, parts, advice, insights, opinions and all given with a real sense of a community, even if we don’t always agree with each other, which is often part of the fun, as long as it’s healthy disagreement and not nasty, which it rarely is here. There is no better resource on the internet for all things bass. Ask for help, you will get it, ask for advice, you will get it. No questions are stupid, all answers are welcomed. No opinions are ignored, all views are observed. Thanks to everyone who run the site, long may it continue.
  13. I absolutely believe in supporting home grown businesses, but just as point of caution, I had a bad experience with one of the makers mentioned in this thread. I won’t say who, but the pickups were relatively expensive and the quality of the work did not reflect in that price. To be fair I did keep them, and the bass sounds fantastic, despite the issues I had. Just a word of caution, when looking for pickups, do your research and read the reviews etc.
  14. My Sunns all weight a ton. Love them dearly though.
  15. I don't like stickers personally, I'd rather see the damage. I remember a lot of teenagers in the 90s used to cover their Ibanez SRs in them. Not my bag.
  16. I think so Matt. I would be looking at between 300 and 400 like we said before. To put it into perspective, my IGB68 above was £200.
  17. Nice indeed, good find.
  18. Superb bass honestly. Mrs Rayman bought me this one. I’d love to find a 4 stringer version. The ramp…. I made myself.
  19. 18mm at the bridge. I wouldn’t want to pay more than 400 for an IGB68, not sure about this model, but tbh I wouldn’t want to pay much more for this one either.
  20. Yeah, it isn’t worth much more than that.
  21. Exactly… 3/400 tops. Probably nearer 3 tbh.
  22. Best active jazz sound I ever had was from a Hohner B Bass. Big fan of Hohner stuff, very well made indeed. David (Eubassix) had a jj for sale..... I was very tempted, just can't justify it at the moment.
  23. It would be a great option, if the decals were offered a separate stickers. The bass itself looks pretty funky, in a metal way.
  24. My opinion, is start with a 4 string, 34 scale and persevere. Always the best way forward when starting out, and you can always look at options down the line when you're more comfortable. It can be a bit uncomfortable to begin with, but honestly I would start with a standard size and scale bass.
  25. Angle + lighting + photograph can make stuff like this hard for us all to get an accurate opinion, but I would assume the bridge too.... but dunno without seeing it in person.
