1. Just bought a lovely 2002 USA Fender Precision Bass from Dan today and he was a pleasure to deal with. Very honest, helpful and easy to contact. Allowed me to come and view the bass at short notice and was kind and friendly. Deal with confidence! Cheers
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB31_P63-ng Andy Rourke is probably my favourite bassist. But to be honest I can't think of many records I really love that weren't played on a precision bass...
3. Here it is in its new home: I haven't been able to turn it up yet as I live in an apartment block, but will take it to practice later!
4. Just picked up a Trace Elliott 1528 2x15" cab. Geoff was a pleasure to deal with, responded to messages quickly, made himself available for me to pick up the cab at short notice and gave me time to demo the cab. A really nice guy, don't hesitate to do business with him! Thank you.
5. I've done similar things using a BOSS chromatic tuner pedal, with the "bypass" signal running to your constant, dry amp, and then the other output (which is only activated by switching "off" the tuner) running to your other amp. This only gives the option of A / (A+B ) (i.e. adding in a second amp) so if you want to switch A / B between your two amps I guess you need a BOSS LS-2 or other A / B pedal. I guess it could be cool for experimental stuff, I'd really like to try it with two amps spaced, with the second one through a 100% wet delay. I've used it for a guitar into a single Sovtek MIG50 two input head, with just one input cleanish and then adding in the second preamp input (which is voiced differently) cranked giving an awesome natural overdrive.
6. Hey guys, I was hoping someone here could help me by letting me know whether this is a sensible idea or not. I have a Trace Elliott Bonneville 100W guitar head. It's super heavy and probably the loudest guitar amp I've ever used. I mainly play bass these days though, and instead of buying a new bass amp I was wondering if it would be "ok" to go into the guitar amp through a SansAmp (preamp) straight into the effects loop, then obviously into a nice bass cab. So effectively skipping the amps own preamp and using the amp like a power amp. The sansamp has output level options for "instrument" or "line"- I'm guessing I want to use "line" as this is after the amp's own preamp- is this correct. Am I likely to run into many problems with this? Does the amp "care" that there's a signal coming in at the effects return with nothing being "sent"? 7. Bump, I've put it on eBay now. Anyone want to take bets on how long it'll last before it gets removed?
8. Haha. Those aren't my boxers, they're just the lining of the jeans pocket, honest!
9. Wow, thanks alot for the information, that's a great help! Your bass looks lovely, but I could really do with the cash seeing as I'm moving house in a just over a month. The £300 is by all means negotiable though, so send me a PM if you manage to get the asking price for your bass.
10. Embarrassingly I really don't know much about this bass. I bought it used less than six months ago, and the dealer wasn't sure what company made this bass, but he said he was fairly certain that it was made in Japan in the 70s "most probably in the Matsumoku or Fujigen factory". I paid £350 for it a few months ago, which was a relatively low price (next to the certified "Greco" 70s Ric copy that I was assured was of equal quality he sold a week earlier) but the price was taking into account the odd scratch and need for a set-up on my bass. It's a lovely bass to play, although I only ended up using it for a couple of shows because the long-scale neck was just too much work compared to my little Aria CSB300 bass. I feel like a goon that I can't give a better detailed description. The tuners are not "Ric" style, but I have seen other 70s Japanese Ric copy basses with this same style. The guy I bought it from did say that he had a hunch that it was an Ibanez, and he is pretty knowledgeable about this era guitar (this his website, by the way: www.myspace.com/uitastudio). I'd like £300 for it, as I haven't used it much at all since I bought it, plus I cleaned it up a bit & put new strings on it. I never got around to getting it set-up professionally though, but it still sounds & plays great and the intonation is perfect. The G string sounds like it is a little too narrow for the saddle, it kind vibrates against the sides of it. I'm sure this could be sorted out easily (it's probably only because I use light guage (.40) strings). It really isn't that noticeable of a problem at all. Here are some pictures anyway: edit: Despite this bass having the two output jacks, only one is actually wired up.
11. I've had a fair bit of interest in that fretless! I'm afraid to say that it is probably sold now. Is no one interested in the other two? I am open to offers, and possibly trades- though not for another bass. I'll probably put them both on eBay soon.
12. OK, I need to sell some of my guitars as they're taking up too much room in my house, and I don't have time to play them all anyway! Ibanez SRX700 I bought this bass around 3 years ago, and I still think it's absolutely gorgeous to play to this day- in fact probably the most "playable" guitar I've come across. Active Musicman-style pickups, neck-thru construction, great neck and low action. Read some reviews for this bass here: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...nez/SRX700/10/1 I paid around £450 new. I'll sell for £300, or make me an offer! However I'm in desperate need of cash to fund my new studio purchases. This bass has a slim Jazz neck, Precision Bass body and both Jazz and P Bass pickups! It looks, sounds and plays great! It has been used at maybe around 20 gigs, so is not quite in "mint" condition. This was £250 new 5 years ago. Yours for £100, or make me an offer. The guy I bought it from said that he built it himself. The body shape is like a Ripper. When I bought it, the frets were in a really poor shape, so I decided to remove them myself, and then I sanded and varnished the neck- it's far from a professional job! Also, the pickup doesn't sound great, however it does work. Finally, the action is really high, and I think there's something wrong with the truss rod as I can't seem to adjust it- it was like this when I bought it. I guess this would serve better as an ornament or a "project" rather than something to play regularly! The body seems of a pretty decent quality. £20. More pictures can be taken on request too. Thanks!
