12 weeks? What kind of a wait is that?? I've waited almost as long to get served in Sound Control!
+1

Thank's for the comments guys, it's nice to know that I haven't made duff choices in what I picked
I bet the waiting for the bass to be finished just got a whole lot harder..
You betcha. MikeB, nice one mate. Hopefully mine won't be long after yours.
To tell the truth, all the shuker build threads here and the delays, lack of contact, him not doing what he said he would etc put me off ever buying Shuker unless it's one already built and in stock.
That's a shame mate. What you've got to remember is that Jon is a one man outfit and a very busy one at that. I also think you'll find that all manufacturers suffer from delays for one reason or another. Certainly nothing can be done about suppliers dieing, floods, break ins etc etc. I've never once complained about the way he does things. He's a family man with other demands on his time. I think a little patience and understanding wouldn't go amiss, considering the standard of his work. One thing I will say however, is that when accepting a commission, Jon should give a longer lead time. I knew straight away that mine would not be ready in the time he stated but I wasn't bothered, I'd seen the quality of those posted on here and I tried several of the stock items he has in his workshop, I'm willing to wait. And finally, lets face it, you won't be waiting as long as some who are having basses made by other Luthiers. Pete

Great news John. I'm now trying to control my envy.
Nice stuff, take some valium and relax! Re. your question in the other thread: as far as I know, it's finished, Jon was just hanging on to it for a few days to make sure it settled in okay. I was meant to receive a photo from him about a week ago, but not arrived, of course. Emailed last night to see what's going on. Still the same old story. It's all bought and paid for too.
That's the thing with Jon, he won't release an instrument until it's right and to be honest with you, I'm glad about that. Frustrating I know but I'm sure it will be worth it. To quote you: relax!
Great looking woods Pete, I'll have a good butchers when I'm up there on Saturday to pick mine up !
Thanks mate, I think between us, Jon and I choose well. Although I have to admit, I just left Jon to choose the pieces of buckeye and as you can see, the man has an eye for the unusual (sloths, springer spaniels, rhinocerosesssss)

That's lovely Si, just lovely.

Ah, so that's where all the birdseye has gone. Looks amazing mate, I'm hoping for some pics of my neck and fretboard soon.

So I now have pics of the body after it's final laquering. It's yet to be polished to give it that depth but I am gob-smacked. To me it looks absolutely amazing and it is everything I hoped it would be. I now am chewing my various appendages off in anticipation of the finished article. See what you think: I'm in love I swear!!!
WoooHooo the tuners have finally arrived, I think Jon had to send an Interstellar Starship out to Jupiter to get them they have taken so long to arrive,or the pidgeon got lost ! I'm now on for a Saturday pick up
Result John! Yours being finished means that mine is that little bit closer

Nice one Mike, that's great news. (Not that I'm jealous or anything. I'm not honestly)

Started off on guitar, played it regularly for 30 odd years before realising I was doing the wrong thing. Anyway, I've still got my guitar gear: Patrick Eggle '93 Vienna and a Hughes and Kettner Zentera combo.
Lovely neck! This is agony, I'm starting to wonder whether a custom is worth it, all this pain!
Agony doesn't even come close! As to whether it's worth it, I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever.
oh my god i almost cried with laughter reading that an dude... your bass is looking f%#king mental!!! i cant wait to see it with its first coat on the body, i should imagine it would really bring out the colour lucky sod
Don't encourage her mate, she's daft enough as it is As for more pics, my breath is as bated as yours Edit: And just in case anyone is wondering why I'm calling the bass 'Lady T', I'm dedicating it to my wonderful looney wife Terri who in more ways than one saved my life. I had a kind of BB King moment one evening and decided to give it a name. To me it's perfect.
Everything's progressing ... Should get some laquer this week Must nag Jon for pictures ...
Strange, when I spoke to him last Tuesday he said he was going to be laquering last week and that pics would be arriving by the end of the week, pics didn't arrive, maybe he didn't get around to the spraying. Oh well.
