  1. I personally like the idea of using 2x12. Can always use three 2x12 to make it 6x12.
  2. I think the overall band volume and EQ need adjusting. Your EQ and the guitar EQ may need adjusting. Sounds like both you and the guitarist fighting for volume. Maybe his bass EQ is crack up and you wanted that low bass tone and it ends up the guitar guy drown your volume.
  3. Do Fender still produce those bassman TV combo? Haven't seen any around for sale for awhile now. I would love to have Bassman TV 1x10.
  4. Rotosound Flats have high tension.
  5. No worse bass for me. The worse is not having a bass to play.
  6. Flats have more tension then rounds so it means it will be less floppy. Whether the sound is good for you thats another question. If you want less floppy strings then flats or heavier gauge rounds will be good.
  7. I use .130 on my B and everything else is 0.40-0.100
  8. Is abit embarrass actually, the reason i keep changing is sometimes i play hardrock stuff then i feel rounds is much better, but then i also play some old school stuff which flats would be much better for the music. Trying to find a balance so i don't have to mess around with the action too much. Haven't try half rounds to behonest.
  9. Talking about that i'm considering adding a bridge jazz pickup to my part build precision bass. I tend to use my precision more then any of my bass these days now. simply for plug and go style and no onboard preamp to mess around with. Altho my p bass with seymour duncan SPB3 sounds great but i wanted to add a SJB3 on the bass to make it P/J setup, and wire the have volume/volume/tone. If i do that then i will definite use rounds on the bass, because i like that bridge pickup growl when using rounds. £50 for the SJB3 to add near the bridge is not bad investment.
  10. I found myself keep switching strings on my precision bass all the time. My jazz and my acg 5 string will always use rounds so no problem with that. On my precision bass i'm constantly want to switch between flats and rounds. Anyone like me doing swaps all the time?
  11. I tend to just buy a cab that sounds good to my ear. If the cab match well with the head then i will buy the cab. I'm not too bother about transparent tone etc. Also depend on what bass i use as well. In my church their is this old trace 15" combo (200-250watt) which goes well with my passive P Bass and my jazz bass with john east install, but it sound terrible on my ACG 5 string. So depend on the cab i will use different bass.
  12. Bass is never too loud lol. Alot of people complain about not enough volume/headroom and you completely opposite ...... lol.
  13. I haven't try unscrew them and then rotate the speakers yet. What would this do?
  14. Yeah, I've tighten all the screws. Just need something to dam that vibration to stop the buzz.
  15. On the amp forum I've posted a thread relating to my Ampeg BA108 buzzing problem when playing certain low notes on the E string. i.e A note on the E string. I know the amp is cheap and i can easily buy another one but i really like the tone, size and weight of this little ampeg amp. So therefor i'm looking into a solution of fixing this amp. The buzz sounds so sorts of static buzzing when a certain low note is play, sound on the speaker sounds fine, no distortion or farting but the resonate vibrate trigger the buzz. After researching into this problem on Google, it seems is very common on the BA108 and BA110. I've took the grill off and tighten every screw i can see on the speaker but still no fix. So i decide to play the problem note to trigger the buzz then gentle touch the spongy part (the spongy thing that wraps around the screws and the speaker) with a little bit of pressure and the buzz gone away, it seems like it stops the resonate vibrate and it let the note rings out nicely. see link below for the photo that someone took in talkbass forum. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=288731&d=1347248402 What can i do to fix this? put some sort of sponge between grill and the part? I've kinda stop the buzzing by adding mid, turn treble down abit and leave bass flat on the amp.
  16. I've took the grill off today and play the same note and the buzz is on, but i touch the speaker sponge stuff just outside gently and the buzz gone away. Only if i can add some kind of pressure between that and the grill then problem is sorted. I've also take the treble down abit and bump up the mid a little and leave the bass eq flat and the buzz was gone, so i guess i can EQ the buzz away.
  17. This is the problem I'm getting but buzz on a different note then him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65hjE5LjzIQ
  18. Could it be something lose inside the amp? I might take a look tonight to see if any parts is lose. The speakers definite sounds fine without distortion. By the sound of the buzz it sounds like is coming from the back, AC or the preamp position. It only does it on low notes, so it leads me thinking the resonate of the note vibrate some parts inside that cause the buzz or component rattle.
  19. My amp sounds good, no speaker distortion etc but when I play some deep bass note on the E string their is some kind of static noise. Hard to describe the noise ..... It does this on low volume, high volume and bass EQ turn down as well. Most noticeable on my passive p bass with tone knob turn all the way down. On active bass is not too bad because the tone is not as deep as the p bass. Any Ampeg BA108 owner have the same problem. I know is £100 amp and it's already perform more then I expected from a 25watt amp. This is not a speaker farting or distort sound, is just some static buzz noise when playing low deep bass tone on mid to high volume. On my active jazz and my 5 string acg is not too bad because I can always play near the bridge pickup for that low mid tone which I prefer, but on my precision bass it is very noticeable ......
  20. My settings on the amp is set flat (12 o'clock position) and EQ on my bass (if is active) set flat as well. I set everything flat to see how to tone goes, and i will adjust if their is a need. I mainly dial in abit of mid and it sound sweet and warm on my LB30. I don't use my valve amp to get that fuzzy/distort sound. I like my valve to sound clean with warmth to it.
  21. Sorted. OBBM can make a box to solve the problem.
  22. Yeah i have two 1x10 cab and the cab doesn't allow me to have parallel sockets.
  23. Probably just buy a Ashdown CTM15 and you will be all set. Is a 15watt all valve bass amp. It is small as well.
  24. I was wondering about the LB30. Altho I did ask Ashdown and they see it can be done because 2x 16ohm = 8ohm load which would be fine on the LB30. The problem I encounter by doing this the cabs only have 1 single input ....... i can't connect the amp to 1 cab then connect the cab to the second cab .....
  25. I've got a mini ashdown rig at my friends house that I've bought long time ago, the rig have been discontinue for ages now. Basically is a 60watt Amp head that the minimum load is 8ohm, the 2 cabs that come with the rig is 2x 10" cab which is rated at 60watt 16ohm load. Was wondering are their any amp head i can use wit these cabs?
