5.
I sold all three of mine at different times in about 6-8 weeks from the time they were made available. Two were sold through the Bass Gallery and one was sold to a friend. It wasn't as if my arm was being taken off in any instance, and Alex thought my expectations weren't too low. Maybe the demand for them has gone up in the last couple of years?
stunning bass, work of art,the best woods, very rare s/h. 4k+new,would try for 2.5k and see how many bites you get! dont no how long the ken smith waiting list is,6mts, wish i had the money spare, regret selling mine. good luck

 9. thanks for the replies. had an alnico seymour duncan pickup in the bass when i bought it,the previos owner said it had a ceramic in it from new, butt didnt like it. miss my pre ball stingray 4 i bought from soundwave bassplace in romford in 81,stupid me ,sold it,weighed a ton,but what a sound, the 2 band eq in it was amazing, cut through butter. whats the closest aftermarket 2 band 2 the the musicman ?? regards Andy..
 10. Anybody tried putting a musicman 2 band eq in a stingray 5?always thought they sounded better than the 3 band, if anybody has, does it sound much different. thanks Andy

 15.
I think that this thread is a spin off from that one...
sorry didnt mean 2,pressed the wrong keys.duh... iwas replying to the other thread.. learning by my mistakes......
 16.
Jaco is famous for his one sound - which is a Jazz on the bridge pickup, through (generally) an Acoustic amp. Jamerson is famous for his one sound through (generally) a B15. Marcus has that infamous jazz slap thing going on. All are great signature sounds. Make a Fodera sound like Jaco, Jamerson or Miller? Nah. Make a Jazz or P Bass sound like a Fodera? Nah. It's all about what you want to get out of your bass. Some basses just don't do good impressions of other basses. I like Enfields take a a do all bass but it's only ballpark stuff. Want a MM sound? Use a MM. Want a P? Use a P... Want a Jazz... use a Jazz. As an extreme example, would Mark King sound like Mark King if he used a passive P bass? Of course not. As for making you play better, well there is all the blx about wanting to play because you love the bass you have... but I actually agree, there is stuff that I can do on my basses that I can't do on others - and that comes down to playability and the feel and balance of the instrument. Anybody who is willing to play the price of a Fodera can have them... they don't really float my boat... especially when Martin's Sei singlecuts are better than the Fodera equivalents. PS Marcus plays a Fodera fretless
love ebs bass kit 2, no what your saying ebs, think m king sounds like m..king whatever he is playing,jaydee,alemic,gb,status... comes down to the guy/girl whos playing the bass i think more than the guitar in their hand.. regards Andy. just converted to ebs 410 pro,212 pro,td650,loving it p.s love your jesica alba picture wow, swwwwing.
 17. who needs one??bass kits gone mad!! macus and jaco produced the most amazing sounds out of £500 fender jazz basses!!!! no exotic woods cut from the middle of the amazon jungle,no fancy leds,no space ship active eqs on their basses....jamerson on his fender pre,wow... all in the mind!!im holding a 20,000 pound bass in my hand, has to be the best. makes me play better, yeh right. ive finished now..each to their own eh
 18.
andy - not sure if they do put them together for you? got a link for that?
prob right.gone off sex!!!!!!!!!
 19. great kit,can be a bit expensive with the exchange rate, they can do what ever you want, back rout, front, routed body with nice tops as used on new sadowskys for weight and body resonence.worth giving them a ring or emailing them. they do nice paint jobs and can put the whole thing together for you complete.depends how much you want to do yourself...
 20.
I would go for the EBS preamp. I used to have a Proto-J both a 4 string and 5 string version and Bernie Goodfellow fitted an EBS preamp into both and it made a huge difference to the sound. I don't think that the stock p/ups in them are much cop TBH.
Thanks, interesting tbh. been using ebs td650 212 pro and 410 pro amazing kit, didnt realise ebs did inboard preamps for bass. do you remember how much it cost?why did you get rid of yours? that lovely gb in your photo?? thanks Andy
 21. ive got a seymor duncan in my sr5 ,great pickup.just make sure you buy an alnico mm pickup not a ceramic...they sound much better..sd or nord. prob not bartolini, never sounded very mm,e on basses ive tried with them on..
 22. thinking of upgrading my ksd5 with dimarzio+sadowsky inboard or aguilar obp1 think ag the same as sadowsky... woundering if anyones done any mods to proto js before.. great bass just think the pickups and pre might be letting it down.bit pop and crackle, eats batteries any ideas without spending to much dosh. thanks Andy
