Like this a lot. 6 string fretless is too much for me though, I have trouble playing my fretted bass in tune as it is.......

It also spent some time with me in Norwich. Excellent bass which I also regret selling! Pete skjold explained that the bass was originally designed as a solo bass hence the Spanish cedar body. I've no idea really but I always found the bass really clear and articulate, without some of the more hifi boutiquey sounds. Back pickup kills for fingerstyle.
Anyway, good luck ville, another great bass up for grabs....

I'm really enjoying learning how to use all this stuff at the moment.

To my novice ears at least, things seem to work best with pitchshift/octave functions first as they seem to work best with a cleaner signal.

Dirt needs to come before filter otherwise you miss all of the resonance in the filter sweep, the dirt is also less effective if the filter has taken the highs out.

That puts dirt in the middle by definition.

I'm putting reverb after filter as a kinda 'catch all'. Tbh though I tend to use this separately anyway so it's a zero sum game.

I have found that using the effects in combination this way has highlighted how different and influential the octave sound can be. Previously using this as a stand alone voice they all seemed quite similar, impact is very different in conjunction with the other effects.

Wholehearted endorse experimentation though. Whilst this works for me and seems generally accepted wisdom I believe 100% that the whole point of this stuff as a creative plaftorm is to augment your own musical voice, whatever that might be.

What's the power required for this please?

I used one for a while. Modelling is great and no issues at all, the synthesiser part is a little more sensitive and you may well need to focus on playing cleaner than you're used to in order to avoid unwanted triggering of sounds etc.

Personally I loved the sounds but I couldn't get on with needed to play in a different manner. Another issue I found is that the effects section - which is pretty good - only works on the modelled sound i.e. you can't use it on your natural bass signal. You will also need to use two separate amp channels to use natural and 'GR55' sound or spend some time in the config of each patch.

This said, the sounds are great and the set up of the GK pickup is not to difficult to achieve. You do need to spend a bit of time to get this right though.

It's well worth a try but definitely an acquired taste as far as live performance is concerned. Not sure how the new SY300 will pan out - this does not require the hex pickup.....

Thanks matey - it might sound like a silly question but should a standard TRS cable (i.e. passive expression cable) do the job? I've tried swapping some stuff around but get a fair bit of noise and not much else. Excuse my ignorance but any suggestions gratefully received!

2015 was the year that I started getting interested in Moogs and expression control. In terms of understanding this world I'm still crawling out of the primordial slime but I now have a couple of moogs on my board and am intrigued about connecting control outputs of one to another etc. It seems that there is plenty of reference made to this, and in fact equipment available to facilitate it. I have no clue.

Can anyone offer any suggestions - firstly about possible connections/applications and second what might make for an interesting third addition..

At the moment I using the lowpass filter and the freqbox.

Oh, I also have a moog t-shirt now as well so it's official.

I've been using an expressionator for a while now. To be fair my uses are probably very straightforward but I've found it to be a really simply way of removing two expression pedals from my board and driving 3 units from one pedal. The expresionator itself has a really small footprint.
It might sound a bit daft but the other appeal of this for me was that I still get to use my boss fv500 which is nice and sturdy and can be set to really firm resistance - I feel like I've got a bit more control on my sweeps etc.
This is fine if you need to control the units separately (as I usually do) or are happy with the same sweep going on at the same time. I think where the reflex will be much better is for specific settings per song/config etc as the expressionator has none of this.
I was lucky enough to pick mine up pretty cheap as well which influenced my decision. If you're after something small and simple though I think it works a treat. More complex applications you probably want the reflex.

Mono matey. Really need to play up the neck a little as well, I suspect it's more of a guitar effect perhaps. Sounds fab though and tracks great above the 5th fret...
