  1. One of a few synths I've been trying out recently but whilst I was almost rabid to give it a go it's just not for me. Great sounds but it just doesn't integrate so well with the rest of my stuff and playing.

Would prefer to trade for another fruity little noisemaker. Most interested in filters or octavers right now with cash your way depending on what yo got. Happy to sell if preferred - asking price is what I paid for it, it's been gigged once and comes boxed in tip top condition.

Stock photo but you get the idea.

    Happy new year everyone...

WIFE: So, what is it that you want for Christmas?
BASSIST: There is this amazing fretless P I really want...
    WIFE: A Frekled what?!
    BASSIST: A bass, a bass...
    WIFE: Another bass?
BASSIST: This one is different. It's probably the last one, I swear.
    WIFE: REALLY?
    BASSIST: Cup of tea, sweetheart?

    Have you bugged my house?

  3. Love my lpf. It's not quite as wet and squidgy as some filters but the sweeps are amazing and it has character that others don't.

I do find it a bit noisy though. Even using an offical Moog psu it generates a hiss and very high pitched noise. Nothing that's a big deal on a gig but it would be nice to eliminate it. Other 'foogers I've used don't seem to have the problem and I suspect it is something to do with the inherent nature of the pedal itself.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and can suggest anything or give a bit more insight?

    Thanks all!

  4. We've all got our opinions of course but I think these are amazing. If you want pure clean bass and plenty of headroom it's a fantastic amp. The twin channels really give some great options too - stereo, monitor, subs etc etc. It runs great into 4 or 8 loads in my experience and like Oldman I've never had the output above 12. Light as a feather too.

I've found mine to be excellent with double bass as well. The taste control really helps tame some of the low wool that you can get on amped DB gigs. All in all an epic amp. I think I've had mine two or three years now and have been gas free in that time!

Does effects great as well so if you want grit or drive you just need pedals of your chosen flavour.

  5. Many thanks - I agree with all of that! The GK3B alone is about £100 new now so with all the other bits it's hopefully a fair price. If you want it shipped you'll have to cover that depending on what kind of service you want.

Mindful that my post is a little brief. For those of you who don't know this is in essence a dual-synth unit although it also contains some bass and amp models plus effects that you can use on these models (but NOT your clean bass signal incidentaly!!!).

Tracking is excellent however I do find it starts to struggle a little on the lower strings. I think this is a typical bass point - the movement of the string in that position is such that even with the best software and hardware tracking will be difficult I'm guessing. Above 5th fret everything is great and the tracking in the upper registers is superb.

A really important point for me was the ability to blend clean and effected signal. The unit has two outputs - one for synth and one for clean (although you can configure differently). This works easy if you have two amps or two inputs (I use the tecamp bonafide so great for this) however you can just as easily use a 2 into 1 adapter into your amp. GK3B pickup then allows mix of signal or you can control the synth volume using the expression pedal as a type of mix - very intuitive and effective.

There are simply hundreds of sounds - nearly 1000 in fact which you can take and tailor to suit. The synth palate in particular is excellent however there are some great string patches and plenty of effects too. Expression pedal can be assigned as can other controllers so you have a really powerful creative platform here. I've added another demo here, this time from Gary Willis (who also has some patches available to load onto the GR55):

Unsurprisingly Gary is better at the GR55 than me, also better at bass than me. Although I do have a pretty mean collection of bassball caps to rival his.

The unit is in excellent condition. Only reason that I'm selling is I really can't get on with multi-fx or units like this. I love the sounds but much prefer knobs and a typical pedal interface, just works better for me. I should know better and stop buying this stuff.

I'm in Norwich and you are welcome to stop by and try it out however I have removed the GK3B from my bass so you'll need to allow some time to set the whole thing up.

  6. Amazing bit of kit but it's too complicated on top of my pedals. And I prefer my pedals. Comes with the GK3b fitting parts, gator softcase, PSU and a two 15 pin cables.

It is for sale but would be very interested in trades. Xenograph/modfactor/synth/filter stuff topping the list at the mo but hit me up.

    Thanks,
