  1. That is the gateway to the light. The true trinity, is 3 Ps 🤣
  2. This informed my next P bass purchase sooner than I thought. Picked up a 3TSB American Vintage Reissue Precision bass tonight to partner it 😬
  3. I actually sold one of these on Basschat that I had refinished by Bass Doc up in the north east. PM to chat and I might be able to give you more back story!
  4. I’m normally quite conservative (I tried to order it in a different finish), but then the wait times were over 12 months and I found this in stock online at a shop my friend works for, so tried it out and it played really nicely. Didn’t hesitate and (once I changed the tort guard to mint green to get a more traditional look) I feel like I made the right choice in the end. So much so, it’ll inform the next P bass purchase 🙂
  5. Finally took the plunge in to the realms of what some may call the ‘bass cliche’ but it’s what works for me. I got rid of quite a lot of stuff I didn’t need and bought a Fender American Original Precision (pictured) to go with my passive-converted Sire P7, a small flip top Ampeg rig (PF20T and PF115HE) and a Noble preamp (delivery due 2022). No negative purchases, but definitely some rationalisation! I just need a second decent Precision in 2022 to finish the ‘trinity’ and I’m done 🙂

  14. This is my ACG (AC Guitars) Finn SC R Type five string, commissioned by me in July 2015 with Alan Cringean, build completed in April 2016. It has a 33” scale, 24 frets and currently strung for E-C tuning. It has an Indian ebony fingerboard, 5 piece Maple, Wenge neck, wenge top on a black walnut body with 0.6mm maple accent. Front of headstock is matching wenge and rear of headstock matches the black walnut of the body. Extremely low action with flat fingerboard radius. Active circuitry with two FB humbuckers in matching enclosure/ramp with ACG DFM 4k pre-amp (I’ve added a picture which explains this). Weight on my bathroom scales was 9lbs and 5oz (or approx 4.2kg). To build this new on the Custom spec calculator on the ACG website, it seems it would be around £3,150. No trade offers please. Happy to meet up locally within a reasonable distance of Durham/Newcastle area too. Any questions, just ask! https://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0244-finn-r-type-5/
  15. Now all sold - Please remove
  16. It depends which model you’re referring to. The ‘Classic’ series actually has two variants; A poly finish (with more colour options generally available) and then a select number of colour options available in a lacquer (nitro) finish, which also come with a hard case and were slightly more expensive as a result. Fender’s naming clearly states the difference so it’s easier to spot, but the finish difference between a lacquer Road Worn and a poly Classic series would be different (in terms of finish type and how it would affect wear over time etc). The differences between a ‘Classic Lacquer’ and a Road Worn would be much closer in terms of spec (with the Road Worn obviously having the worn/relic finish already applied). I think the poly finished Classic 50s Precision was available in sunburst, red, black and a honey/butterscotch. I think the lacquer was available in a translucent white and black only.
  17. I think he’s alluding to the fact that the chambering looks like a screwed up face (similar to the one you’d make eating a sour sweet)?
  18. Geranium transistors are the secret ingredient for great tone!
  19. Thinking about investing in the H.S.W.F.Y.H.K pedal. I know it’s only a YouTube demo and they’re always made by people selling snake oil because they got a freebie and can’t really trust them (and they never say anything negative), but the H.S.W.F.Y.H.K looks like a great investment. The Madskill looks pretty awesome too!
  20. I’m getting a semi-hollow, just at the thought of it…
  21. Give the guy a break. Apparently Zeus has been been working him in to the ground since things ramped up thanks to Covid and he isn’t getting any younger!
  22. Standard really. The Nate Mendel was £575 RRP when i got mine after it first came out in 2012, and now they are £1199 RRP
