The mid control has an off and two on positions. The mid frequency and amount of boost/cut is controlled by potentiometers inside the control cavity. The pickups are noiseless (humbucking). Great for slapping , rock , r n b , it will do most things well . Bags of tone live and in the studio , in fact my mate wont let me record with anything else in his studio , its always " make sure you bring the red one !" So ladies and gents , don't shy away because it says Yamaha, these are truly great instruments , and this one looks to be in immaculate condition!
