I`ve got a set of Status flats on mine and they sound like....well flats! Bit dull but nice and fat and at about £19 a set worth a go. I prefer the tone I get with the flats to the D`arrios I had on the jazz before. You get them direct from their website.

I personally tried flats and ended up restrining to the old set back on (roto's).... just my preference but i like abit of "bright" with my fretless =] i think it's something you have to try yourself and see what you think, afterall it should be "YOUR SOUND" at the end of the day.
All the best

I found rounds to be too 'clanky' on the fretless ebonol and stuck on an old set of flats I ripped off a bass I'd bought not long before the Squier and, as I guy who hadn't used flats for 30 years, I found I preferred them on this bass.

+1 for Jazzaboy's comment. He turned me on to a set of the Status Flats. They offer some of the best value for the price and quality. Installing mine tonight on my VMJ Fretless. :)

sorry, my VMJ is fretted!

I only ask as my Yammy RBX blows the doors off with flatties but still has a 'little' brightness on the G string.

I will try a set on the VMJ but as it's a jazz and I like to have a little 'twang' on my pops....just wondered if the flatties kills the VMJ tone completely....best I try some I know....am I making sense?

Give the TIs a go, but they might be a little "loose" for slap/pop. You could try Status half-wounds (the best half-wounds I've been able to get hold of) -- they still have some zing/twang/bite/whatever but with depth and smoothness, and they feel great.
