Car Wash slap fill

Anyone have a handle on what to play for the fills in Car Wash? For ages I've been playing it up around 10th fret, something like

G -10h11p10-----------------------------------
D ----------12--------10----10-------------12-
A -----------------12----12----12-------------
E --------------------------------12b13-10----

But then I was just looking at this:

And he's getting some good stuff around the 7th fret on the G string. Anyone else have any suggestions?

There's a fill in Stuart Clayton's slap book that is near enough to use, I stole it and tweaked it slightly. I've also thought that it sounds more authentic in the fifth position.

Simon, I can hear ghost notes in the one on the record, I'm sure.
I play it between 7th and 5th (with just a hint of 6th) g string down to a. Sounds great.
Never worked out the line on the record, but when I play it (every weekend...) I play a descending D minor pentatonic lick off the 7th fret G - can't remember what exercise in my book was similar, but that's probably the one I use. I've always meant to transcribe the track since I love the bass part.

Now here's a question.... anyone know who played bass on the original? I do.

If it's as surprising as my discovery that the bassist on the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" is also the saxophonist in The Crusaders, there's no chance of me guessing!

It don't matter none!

If it sounds good, it is good :) ... and that bassline is GOOD!
