I've been to see The Hamsters many times and it's getting to the point where I can recite the patter with him. "... Purple Haze ...", here comes the story about the Devil's chord.[/quote]

Yeah not really in the same department ...

If your front person says "er thanks for coming down, are you having a good time" more than 3 times per gig you have a bigger problem than if the crowd can shout along with your rabbit between tunes ...

Otway makes that joining in part of the gig ...

I'd love to see a band member say "thank us for being here - you are having a great time!" :)

+1 there re the Hamsters. The 'don't have to do drugs, just get up out of the chair quickly' gag has been in the last 3 or 4 times. And that walking round during the encore with the wireless kit after swapping instruments has become just too tiresome. 10 years ago I thought they were the mutts but these days seem a little pedestrian, sadly.

I saw them for the first time this year and I thought they were great. I also recommended them to a few people. That's what this is about - a show to build a following, bring in audiences.

The Hamsters thing just reinforces the message .. be aware that your audience wants to see some variation, especially the regulars.

We need to move the show on in the same way that we move the setlist on.

Workout a number of transitions between the sections and make sure you don't do the same one every time.
