It's a SoundGear (hence the SDGR on the headstock), but from the front, there's not much else to determine model number - it should be on the back of the headstock though, at the top? LeftyJ Posted October 25, 2009 Share Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) I'm thinking SR840, but the control layout is off, and the 840 didn't have fretboard markers and had a carved body and fingerboard end. Does it have a lacquered neck in a matching transparent blue colour? If it does, it's definitely in the 800 series or up. geilerbass Posted October 25, 2009 Share Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) There's nothing on the Ibanez Register that matches up exactly. I believe that the model number is sometimes stamped on the inside of the neck joint - if you're prepared to remove the neck, you may be able to find it there. Is there a serial number on the back of the head stock? The first character should be a letter, indicating the factory at which it was made, with the two numbers following it, indicating the year of manufacture (e.g. C02...., means it was made in the Korean factory in 2002). That might point you in the right direction. Edit: You got your post in just before me! That means it was made in the Japanese Fujigen Gakko factory in 2001. I have the SR705 from that time and the 4-string which sparked off this discussion looks very similar. I wish they would have put the dam model number on the headstock like mostly everyone else does The reason I ask about the model name is that i would like to sell it , but until I know which Ibanez it is then i have no idea how much its worth. geilerbass Posted October 27, 2009 Share Posted October 27, 2009 The other thing to consider is that the Ibanez Register focuses on the US range. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've observed variations between the ranges available in the US, Europe and Japan, when looking at the respective Ibanez websites. It's possible that it wasn't released in the US and so, if you can find a 2001/2002 European or Japanese Ibanez catalogue it might be in there. A long shot, but maybe worth a look.
