Gizmo Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago seeing 2/3 of Rush live again would be cool &I doubt Geedy/Alex would go out with a sub if they felt this was in anyway degrading to neil's legacy, when i heard they were thinking of going out again i half expected that either of the mikes (Portny/Mangini) or Virgil Donati would be in the seat as all 3 are Prog Gods of the drum stool! I saw "RUSH" on the washing machine tour at the NEC years ago, they were great and im glad i saw them but the sound was SO bad, far to loud and so much room clatter i came away with a migraine...i'll stick with a show of hands A.I. hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 3 hours ago, Bassassin said: If you're a fan of long-standing you'll know the first album is considered by many fans to not be 'proper' Rush - and not just because it's little more than slavish Led Zep fan service. In the same sense the Lee/Lifeson/Milles/whoever the keyboard guy is lineup's also not 'proper' Rush. I probably said this in the last thread but I'd have a lot more respect for them if they'd gone out as 'Geddy, Alex & Friends Perform The Music Of Rush'. This just feels horribly cynical - they spent their whole career against the grain, refusing to compromise or take the easy path, always making the music that they wanted to make, whether or not it alienated fans, freaked out the record label suits or felt like a weird, naive mistake in retrospect. They always seemed resolutely Not For Sale. I'm now wondering how much of that artistic bloodymindedness was down to Peart? I'm sure there are some fans that feel that way. I'm not one of them. Some of them are probably the same people that think From Genesis to Revelation and Trespass are not Genesis albums and that Phil Collins turned the band into "Genesis" 🤷♂️. It's definitely going to sound different, but I'm fine with that. Must be great for Ged not having to deal with both bass and keys as well this time. I prefer to think of it as a celebration of the work that Neil was a huge part of rather than a money making exercise as a result of his death. Yes, they will make money, but more power to them for going out again. Neil will be remembered and honoured every single night. 1 Quote
sblueplanet Posted 35 minutes ago Posted 35 minutes ago Totally gobsmacked they are playing Glasgow as so many large acts these days do not visit north of the border on tour. For anyone worried about the expense of staying over to see the show I would suggest booking a room at the Premier Inn within a few minutes walking distance of Glasgow Airport which is actually situated in Paisley around 8 to 10 miles away from Glasgow city centre. You can walk from the Premier Inn to Paisley Gilmour St train station in around 15 minutes on a main road and from there is a 10 minute train journey to Central station in Glasgow and then maybe a 20 minute walk along the waterfront to the OVO Hydro venue. My advice would be not to linger in Glasgow after the show but catch first train back to Paisley then enjoy a few pints at the pub adjoining the Gilmour St train station then you can walk back to your hotel right next to the airport.
