Ampeg Venture V7 review

Tested the Ampeg Venture V7 700w amp out today and I was very underwhelmed with it. 
Firstly it’s not a loud amp for 700w even turning up the master volume felt it had no guts 

Trying to get a decent loud clean tone was a challenge and the SVT / B15 SGT just made the tone very “ farty” in the low end. 
The switches feel cheap and the compressor was average at best.

The PF series were better than these so nope not for me Ampeg I think you’re failing to make a decent modern class D amp for some reason ? 
In comparison my Orange LBT blew it away in every dept

That’s a shame, you’d expect a 700w amp to have something in the tank. I used one of the smaller Venture amps, I really liked the tone but also really had to push it, was only for stage volume too.

I know folk say these need the master volume cranked more but I tried that and still felt it was gutless

Trouble is, having used the mighty TE-1200 a lot of things will feel a bit gutless after the oodles of effortless power that can bring!

I can’t afford a TE1200 at the moment but might just add  a 1200 watt to my list of projects. The trouble is the list is getting longer, not shorter.
