RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) I would like to boost the signal from Bass Guitar ,so that I can plug it in to the input of My Moog Grandmother or Moog Minitaur. Apparently I need something to boost the bass guitar signal so that it can actually be heard in the mix ! Apparently sonuus might be the solution! It is said a preamp would be sufficient to boost the signal from my bass guitar ! I do have a Zoom B3 , but not sure if that is a powerful enough signal boost ! Fwiw I do know how to control the synths in question to accept the signal from my bass guitar.. This is done by turning the oscillators all the way down ,and messing around with the rest of the knobs etc . With the moog Grandmother I also have to have it on the Drone setting for it to work . As for the Minitaur,a key from the midi keyboard has to be permanently pushed down/ engaged . A lot of faffing around .. I do have cheap mini distortion and overdrive pedals but doubt they’d be powerful enough to boost signal . The problem is the bass signal is too low in the inputs of the synths ! Please could someone recommend something to do the job . Thanks in advance 🙂 Edited 12 hours ago by RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Quote
pete.young Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I'm not an expert but I think you can adjust the input level on the audio input of the Minitaur with a MIDI control message. No idea about the Grandmother. You could try using a DI box, that should give a line level voltage instead of instrument level. If you want to plug into the audio input, the Sonuus Midi converter is not the solution since that will give you a MIDI out signal. If you do want a MIDI signal, there is so much latency with a bass guitar that the Sonuus units are almost unusable. They're a lot better with guitar frequencies. The best solution is to play the basslines on the MIDI keyboard and forget about the bass guitar. Quote
Quatschmacher Posted 1 minute ago Posted 1 minute ago (edited) Future Impact V4 or V4 VIP would allow you to trigger the synth oscillators using your bass. Edited just now by Quatschmacher Quote
