Spondon and Nearby. Band Mates Required.

I'm going to have a stab at forming a band*.

 

I am a 63 year old hobby bassist but I'd like to play ensemble again like I did in my twenties.   I sing in a local choir.  I may or may not front said band (not sure if I'm able to sing and play at the same time well enough yet).  So far I've got a name and a modest set list of tunes that I practise.

For those of you without Google Maps, be aware that Spondon is a suburb of Derby.

 

Never been there, but I've known of it all my life ... ever since my first BSA.

Politically speaking (Stop it!) you are correct because that is how the city council views it.

 

If you stated that as fact to an old Spondonian however you'd best be wearing a cricket box as a slap in the knackers could cause discomfort.

 

Spondon and its population are very much a village.  Road access is limited from the city.  As a consequence we still live in a village both geographically and notionally.  I have only lived in the village for fifteen years so don't take my word for it as a blow-in.  Instead, gird your loins and ask one of the indigenous inhabitants... from a safe distance.
