£1600

My last listing of this bass lasted about 24 hrs before sellers remorse kicked in  - let's see how long I last this time. It's a stunning bass, but want is very different to need so I'm reluctantly listing this. My modded ‘95 Ray gets more attention as it’s a highly nostalgic bass for me, so as much as I like this Special I’m struggling to justify keeping it.

Made in 2020, great condition, Ivory White with Rosewood fingerboard. Super comfy to play and sounds spot on - sound clip posted below.

Weighs 4kg / 8.9lb.

Comes with case and candy.

Sound clip...

- Preamp  EQ is flat.
- Strings are well worn in.
- Played into Logic and Aguilar Plugin Suite, AG amp set flat, 2x12 cab.

Cheers 👍

That's a lovely looking bass. Nicer colour scheme than any of the current Stingray Specials.

Others may have a different view, but for my taste these Specials are the best Stingrays ever. Feel great to play and sound even punchier than previous incarnations of the mighty 'Ray, if that's possible.

I'm in a similar position to you, I've listed my grape crush 3 times and took it down each time within 24 hours so I feel your pain. Such great instruments.

Thanks Nick - so I think a price drop may be in order to rip off the band aid a bit quicker!

Agreed, Chiliwailer. There really is something about the mid 90's Stingrays which makes them very compelling. But this is a lovely looking 'Special. Having had one myself, I can report they're excellent basses with massive punch and tone. The quality of the build and components on the Specials has also been seriously upped, too.

Best of luck with the sale :)

Cheers HB 👍

The odd thing is, and I’ve said on other threads before, that tonally my ‘95 Ray isn’t even  one of the better Rays I’ve played and owned… I’m just a sentimental guy I suppose as me and the ‘95 have been through a lot together. My mid 90s fretless Ray is a real peach though, sounds stunning.

This Special genuinely is the better bass over my ‘95 😬
