lowlandtrees Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I changed strings…isn’t the grass always greener? I was so careful…tightened them over a week …but the D snapped. I have no idea what they are. It’s a 4x4 instrument. Can’t decide whether to replace all of them (with another older set) or buy a new D. It seems such a hassle…I have psych myself up to it. The stoppers at the end of the strings are stamped with the note. Anyone recognize the make? Quote
TorturedSaints Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Maybe Thomastik Mittel? https://gollihurmusic.com/string-identification-chart/?srsltid=AfmBOopRtE2v9_XNVvvqIRkJFcNdT1s9s-ahwVcRhF1Fp5Dq9Qej5Q7P 1 Quote

NickD Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago (edited) That red at either end, they look like Spirocore Mittel to me. That's what mine is wearing here. Edited 19 hours ago by NickD Quote

lowlandtrees Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Just now, lowlandtrees said: Looks like string notes are stamped on the ball end? Quote
NickD Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Yeah. I can't get at all of them but the B string does have a B on It. Oddly enough I'd never noticed that until you mentioned it here. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Usually four string sets are labelled I to IV in Roman numerals, with O for Orchestra or S for solo on the other side of the ball. But I've never had a low B or high C, those might be labelled differently. 1 Quote
