Short scale (half round, flatwound, tape wounds etc)

I have this little short scale acoustic bass I really like, but the bronze strings on is not my cup of tea.

I tried some flatwounds for an electric full scale bass, but "normal" strings are to big to fit in the holes in the tuners.

 

What strings would you suggest I look for - links appreciated.

Dunlop short scale flatwounds are very nice - but I'm not sure how loud they would be on an acoustic instrument - is it purely acoustic or can it also be plugged in?

Is the bass a 'standard' 30" shortscale or is it sub short-scale?  I'm sure we can come-up with suggestions (though it gets a little more tricky with sub short-scale).  It might be worth taking a look at Newtone - they have dedicated short-scale sets available but can custom wind pretty much anything:
