Rayman Posted Tuesday at 06:57 Posted Tuesday at 06:57 Finally…… I have got my hands on the one. I was 16, when I first got into bass. A mate played me “Live Xcert” by The Stranglers…. and I was hooked. Jean Jaques Burnel playing a black/maple Fender Precision. Yes mate. 44yrs later, and 100’s of basses…. like all the basses, and finally I have the one I should have had in the first place….. I’ve owned most brands except Fodera , but one bass always eluded me, the one that started it, at least in my head. I have no idea why it took so long tbh… Anyway, there you go, better late than never eh? 20 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted Tuesday at 07:03 Posted Tuesday at 07:03 We all have a habit of eventually coming full circle to what we originally liked and settled with. Very nice example you have there. I see it's through body strung too. Is that an American Standard, or the American Professional? 1 Quote
Rayman Posted Tuesday at 07:28 Author Posted Tuesday at 07:28 2004 with the S1 switch…… I’m not entirely sure where that falls in terms of models. Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted Tuesday at 07:30 Posted Tuesday at 07:30 I know the model. It's the S1 American Standard before the big 2008 overhaul. Nice basses 1 1 Quote

Well you don`t see many of that range up for sale, which is a pretty good indicator of how good they are. Congrats on a good bass, in the best colour scheme. 1 Quote

Lozz196 Posted Tuesday at 11:39 Posted Tuesday at 11:39 @Rayman I was similar. Virtually all my fave bassists played Precisions - Burnel, Foxton, Matlock, Simenon, Deacon - and for years I tried to get the sound I wanted from various different types/brands of bass. Then I bought a Precision and suddenly there was the sound. 1 Quote

It should be a great partner to the Thunderbird, which is already sounding ace on the first couple of songs. Also it’s going to be fantastic live. Quote

Nice basses The line with the S-1 switches were known as the American Series range. They ran (I think) from 2000 to 2007 and the line was revamped LESS the switch in 2008 (American Standard). Quote
