Uncle Rodney Posted Monday at 20:11 Posted Monday at 20:11 These seem to be well specced and not too costly - CX100 -with bubinga top I like the idea of active pups. Opinions? I will use it for home recording, doing slap and classic rock, maybe softer stuff like country. No metal. Quote

Some folks would go daft, imagining pickup and preamp swaps. I wouldn't bother with any of that, just get it playing nicely in the hand and let a cheap EQ pedal handle the tone 👍 1 Quote
john_pawson Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I can attest this is a solid bass - I bought mine 20ish years ago at university having never played bass before. It sat in a cupboard for about 15/16 years and I then joined a band, learned bass on this exact model with bubinga top. Well balanced not too weighty, nice action. I have replaced a couple of the tuning pegs through necessity but I have even gigged with it. Go for it I say! And yeah no mods needed. Bear in mind is fully active (i.e. it has no passive mode) so needs the 9v to work at all, but it is just one battery and they last a good while as long as you don't leave a cable plugged in the jack. 2 Quote
Bassassin Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Never had one but always thought it was a good-looking bass - they used to come up quite regularly but haven't seen one for ages. Crafter as a brand's pretty decent, a guitarist mate has a Crafter acoustic, which plays & sounds way better than the price tag suggests Just had a quick look & there are a couple of CX100s going for £135 & £115 respectively. If this one's the same ball park - go for it! 1 Quote
Uncle Rodney Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Thanks guys for your comments. I've seen one on ebay and another on Fb Market place but currently too many miles away (>100), plus some I know will have horrible little roads. I will keep my eyes open then. Thanks too for the "active only" comment, I did wonder. 1 Quote
