These seem to be well specced and not too costly - CX100 -with bubinga top  I like the idea of active pups. Opinions?

I will use it for home recording, doing slap and classic rock, maybe softer stuff like country. No metal.

Always thought I'd buy one but none ever appeared local 😞

It's a pretty looking thing. Some folks would go daft, imagining pickup and preamp swaps. I wouldn't bother with any of that, just get it playing nicely in the hand and let a cheap EQ pedal handle the tone 👍

I can attest this is a solid bass - I bought mine 20ish years ago at university having never played bass before. It sat in a cupboard for about 15/16 years and I then joined a band, learned bass on this exact model with bubinga top. Well balanced not too weighty, nice action. I have replaced a couple of the tuning pegs through necessity but I have even gigged with it.

Go for it I say! And yeah no mods needed.

Bear in mind is fully active (i.e. it has no passive mode) so needs the 9v to work at all, but it is just one battery and they last a good while as long as you don't leave a cable plugged in the jack.
