fretmeister Posted Tuesday at 15:06 Posted Tuesday at 15:06 QUOTE FROM IG: "I've had a handful of messages already asking about this, so I guess I can come right out and talk about it. Mike Watt has been using a couple of my pedals for a while now, and earlier this year he asked if it would be possible to smash everything together into one box for a convenient all-in-one box for gigging and touring. After considerable back-and -forth and several prototypes, The Watt was born. The Watt essentially combines the Single Slice compressor with the Finally v3 preamp/D.I., giving you a tube preamp, variable HPF, and compressor, all in a conveniently sized package. Currently there are only two of these in existence, one for Mike and one for me, but I have parts on order to build more. I wasn't planning on even announcing this yet, but part of Mike's testing of the pedal meant using it at a gig, and I guess the word got out. I expect to have these ready to go by the end of September 2025." Wild guess - not going to be cheap! 5 Quote
Sibob Posted Wednesday at 06:01 Posted Wednesday at 06:01 Did anyone ever manage to nail down the fixed ratio of the Single Slice (and therefore this?), the only vague reference I can find is a single suggestion on TB from Nathan that it’s 4:1, but that’s not confirmed as far as I can see. Love the green on this, nice little combo of effects too! Love Nathan’s stuff! Si Quote

It turns out that an OTA compressor like Single Slice and The Watt are a "compressor-sustainer" and not a "compressor-limiter", so there isn't a set gain reduction ratio like there would be on a typical compressor-limiter. OTA compressors don't compress in a linear way like that, so it's not really something you can put a number on. Also glad to see people are excited for the new pedal I'm hoping to have stock built up for it by the end of September. I was originally planning to hold off on announcing it until it was ready to go, but I didn't tell Mike that, and he was excited after gig-testing it (which is always a good sign) and wanted to tell everyone. 5 Quote

Ah great, thanks very much! I likely skimmed over your clarification and didn’t pick up on it because I didn’t see a ratio anywhere….completely on me. Si 1 Quote

He said on IG in the comments of the post announcing this that he’s aiming for a price point of about $400usd - I don’t think that’s really too bad for what it is and when you look at the price of a Finally v3 & Single slice comp new Quote

And based on the parts orders I have coming in for this one, I see no reason I shouldn't be able to meet the $400 price point, so that's still what I expect it to be. Expected release date will be towards the end of September, unless something unexpected happens. Quote
