AinsleyWalker Posted Saturday at 11:52 Posted Saturday at 11:52 This little guy arrived earlier today and I'm already in love! It runs a 6AS6 valve and sounds great as a drive, a boost, etc but I reckon I'll use it more as an always-on pedal when going direct to add a bit of warmth. Ordered from Netherlands on Thurs and on my doorstep Saturday morning, not bad! https://www.singularaudio.nl/shop/tubedrvepedal/ 6 Quote
itu Posted Sunday at 14:43 Posted Sunday at 14:43 Slightly steep price 289 €, but looks good, most likely sounds, too. Quote
Singular Audio Posted Monday at 13:16 Posted Monday at 13:16 (edited) Hey ! Thanks for the mention if anybody has any questions about the pedal I'd be glad to answer them. Basically the pedal has a 6AS6 tube in it, running at 230V plate voltage but derived from a standard 9V power supply with a boost converter. The tube can be switched from triode to pentode operation and has a pretty neat sound ! Basstheworld did a cool short demo with it: Edited Monday at 13:18 by Singular Audio 4 Quote
JoeEvans Posted Tuesday at 15:01 Posted Tuesday at 15:01 What difference does the triode/pentode switch make to the sound? Quote

In Pentode mode, it's much easier to get full-on overdriven/distorted sounds at lower volumes/drive levels. So I have been generally keeping in Triode mode for cleaner/ever so slightly broken up sounds. 3 Quote
ikay Posted yesterday at 16:12 Posted yesterday at 16:12 The SA demo vid only has a few seconds on the Bias control. I've read the manual (which says CW is smoother and CCW is fuzzier) but how does it work in practice? Does it add something different to what you can get from the triode/pentode and drive controls? Generally I've found that the sound breaks up more as the bias is turned to the right. I need to spend more time with it to see if that's always the case Quote

Singular Audio Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago 1 hour ago, ikay said: That's interesting, the manual says smoother to the right... In short : to the left will have more asymmetrical clipping (top part of waveform being cut off more than the bottom), to the right will have more symmetrical clipping (both top and bottom part of waveform being clipped equally). However this control also can impact the gain of the tube a bit which is probably why Ainsley hears the sound being distorted more with the control to the right. 2 Quote
