This is a rare punchy beast. Short scale active made in Japan in 2014.its effectively a very high quality, active Mustang variant. Featuring the John East jazz preamp, so it has full passive control, or epic active.

In excellent all round condition. Currently wearing La Bella Deep Talkin strings.

Can courier at cost.

I wonder whether you experienced the original 2-eq preamp (usually Bartolini XTCT) before swapping for the John East (J-Retro or Uni-Pre?): if yes, how would you describe the difference? Pros and cons?

Love AZs, still have one (M245, and a Jino 4 previously).

Thanks, GLWTS

I found the original to be all bass and no treble, featuring a ton of hiss!

The John East J-Tone completely transforms the bass, and adds passive with tone. I'm a fan!

I like the J Tone, it’s a sort of ‘true’ active/passive preamp where it is the same volume on or off, you have passive tone when active or passive, and if set flat in active there’s no colouration, but then if you need the bass or treble it’s there in spades - you can alter the frequencies of both too which is really useful.

Is this a Japanese made one - rather than the description thats appearing on some similar bases on Reverb / Bass Bros etc

"ATELIER Z DESIGN is a new series from ATELIER Z, a long-established domestic brand that is supported by a wide range of genres, both professional and amateur. It achieves high cost performance through overseas production, and is a series with reliable quality while being affordable."

So presuming its not the "design" version - cant quite make out the headstock finer details - I do like the look of this

This is the Japanese active version from 2014, not the recent passive range.
