If only instruments were of this quality in the “lower to mid” level when I started paying a trillion years ago, 

a lot of fustrations would have been avoided 🙂

I just want to try a 5 string Jazz with a retrofitted Lutishand filter/pre-amp. Don`t want to mess up the Yamaha for this.

Great basses these. Fretboard radius however is flatter than the 14" quoted here. They're 23 5/8" or 600mm 👍

Oh and yours is the later 1005J as shown by the 5 piece neck.

These are great basses. Solid all the way. There is a neat trick you can do with them. Turning the neck pickup 180° will get you a great Marcus Miller Jazz Bass tone. The cable is long enough to pull it off. Been playing with this modification for years now. It's great and completely reversable.

I'm flabbergasted...I really can't believe that, at this price especially, this is still here....

 

I've got two, they play and sound amazing.  Well balanced, the fantastic build quality that you would expect from a Yamaha and a tonal palette to die for. Suitable for everything from funk to rock...

 

I can only assume that it's a Brexit thing.

I didn't know you could tweak the pre amp pots on these. I thought that only applied to the older Mark 1 Japanese made TRBs from the 90s 🤔
