Jack_Stroud_Bass Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 (edited) UPDATE: SOLD 29.01.2024. --- --- --- 1997 Fender USA Standard Precision Bass. This has been my main bass since 2018, and has served me well and been gigged extensively. However, I have upgraded to a lovely vintage 70s bass, so this is sitting around not getting the love and attention it deserves. It's well set up with a set of standard gauge strings (45 - 105) that still have some life left in them. It's got an aftermarket (tort) pickguard, but does come with the original white one. It's got a lovely dark rosewood fretboard which is very smooth under the fingers. Cons: It doesn't have a case, or a gig bag. The original case disintegrated a while after I had it, and I've been using another which I'd like to keep. I have given more details in one of the pics - the information you can access when you put the serial number into Fender's website. Item for sale in Stroud, UK. Local sales preferred. Open to sensible offers. Edited January 29, 2024 by Jack_Stroud_Bass 8
ikay Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 I think the N7 serial indicates 1997 rather than 2008.

Basserker Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Nice! This era completely passed me by. Where did the aftermarket pickguard come from? I always sort of feel if you’re going tort, really go for it - and that fits the bill nicely.
Jack_Stroud_Bass Posted January 28, 2024 Author Posted January 28, 2024 The aftermarket guard was from a local music shop here in Stroud- not entirely sure it's genuine "Fender" but I liked the look of it. Yes, I wanted that classic sunburst tort look and I think it looks fab. My 78 P is a cool Olympic White that's faded nicely too. 1
Raymondo Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I have had the privilage of " noodling" on this bass, whilst holding it for Jack when he was setting up/ breaking down after gigs....two things .. 1.... it plays smooooooth and 2... it sounds fabulous. Just sayin like...I'm a fan of jack and his band! 1

It’s not often I see one that both captures the correct “glow” of some of the original, real tortoise shell pickguards - but also has the size of truss rod access that is required on a modern Fender (such as the Am Pro II). 1
