spiltmilk_2000 Posted May 11, 2009 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Hi There, a friend of mine, (a lefty) is after a new bass but doesnt really know what he wants and is struggling to find anywhere that has much in stock for him to audition. I thought someone on here might be able to point us in the right direction? Any lefty specialists out there?? Also, the guy is going to New York in a few weeks. coasterbass Posted May 11, 2009 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Sadly this is a common problem. Aside from my very first bass (an Aria precision copy) I've never seen/demo'd a lefty in a shop. If he has an idea of what he wants then he could do worse than the following: Prowl ebay.com in advance of the trip, buy something nice, get them to ship it to the hotel in NYC, come home. Equally you could do this with a new bass from www.southpawguitars.com, which is in Texas but has the worlds best lefty selection. In NYC there is the 'Denmark Street' on 49th(?) with Rudy's Music and a few others but again, I was disappointed in selection unless you want an $11,000 precision from the 60's. If they have some cash to splash then Roger Sadowsky's factory and showroom is in Brooklyn and easily visitable - but call ahead to check whats in stock Don't forget the 'lefties' thread pinned at the top of the Basses for sale page on this site.
