Use 30ish seconds of a tune from a gig or rehearsal, and we will guess what rig you are using....bass, amp, cabinet, effects (if any). Winners get to sit smugly on their throne of acoustic excellence...:) Me first...this is from a rehearsal last night with a country band I am depping for later in the month. However, I see conversations all the time (not on THIS site, of course..:)...), that suggest that many bassist can hear the tiniest of differences. Just wondering how they do that.... For the record...this was my MPV5, 50/50 on the pickups, Flat on the tone, light gauge Elixer Nanoweb nickel rounds, played over the 24th fret: Trace GP12SMX/400SMX set "seagull" EQ, no pre-shape and the bass compression at 50% 60/40 tube preamp. 4x10 cabinet. I have no doubt that some people can. Probably those who have years of experience playing through different rigs, or sound engineers who can pick up on the most subtle differences.
