Start off with Autumn Leaves in Gm.

Get the version on Cannonball Adderley's Something Else and learn the bassline on that.

Once you've got that down, you'll understand both major and minor ii-V-I progressions, which are key to understanding jazz tunes.

You might want to get your head around 'Rhythm Changes'
The flinstones tune is based on those changes.
Uses the AABA format..Very common sequence.

Also all the Real and Fake Books. All the standards you will need, plus a few fusion tunes.
