Jono Bolton
Does anyone have any first-hand experience of fitting one of these to a MIM Standard P Bass? I have the scratchplate, and had been looking at a MIM P Bass body I'd seen for sale, but my concern is the position of the screw hole between the volume and tone knobs; on my Squier Matt Freeman, the screw hole sat over the control cavity, and a plug had to be fitted to allow a screw hole to be drilled. Can I expect the same with a MIM body? The routing on a Classic 50s/Vintera P Bass is different to the Standards/Player Precisions. AndyTravis
Yeah.Ā Ā Get a drumstick. Saw it to the depth of the cavity. ThenĀ split it (saw it) down the middle. A bit of wood glue where thereās no place for the screw to go. Clamp it. Put a cloth between the finished portion of the body and the clamp. GuideĀ hole it...screw in. You could use double sided tape I guess. Robert is your motherās brother... Edited April 14, 2021 by AndyTravis
AndyTravis
Totally misread the post. Yeah, only the 50ās reissues have the ārightā spacing for the gold pickguard. Ā
Reggaebass
If Iām reading this right, couldnāt you just glue a small block of wood to the side of the cavity to take the screwĀ
Reggaebass
I didnāt know the gold anodised ones had different screw holes, this is my oneĀ

That's what was done to my Matt Freeman, but I was hoping to avoid having to do it again.
