atsampson Posted July 20, 2020 Share Posted July 20, 2020 I don't think that's a Hofner either - which doesn't mean it's not a perfectly decent instrument in its own right, of course! Lots of companies make Hofner-style basses (http://www.violinbasses.com/gallery.htm), and it's not uncommon for people to swap Hofner bits onto copies to make them more like the originals. From the style of the bridge, control plate and tuners, it looks like it might be a Challenge violin bass - compare with the pictures here or here?
