Mr Cougar Posted August 12, 2007 Share Posted August 12, 2007 Alright Chaps, I want to pep-up the tonal range of my P Bass, thought I might stick in the EMG replacement pickups/active tone circuits. Has anyone got any other ideas/experience with these. Any other suggestions as to what might be good and what type of sounds I'll get? neepheid Posted August 13, 2007 Share Posted August 13, 2007 I've got an EMG-P ready to put into my current project, but I haven't fired it up yet so I can't comment on it. It's very convenient that they're intrinsically active, no circuit boards to mount. You do have to find somewhere to stash a 9V battery of course! Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted August 13, 2007 Share Posted August 13, 2007 My EMG P pickup sounded a bit weak with 9v compared to to the mighty punch you get running it on 18v by connecting a pair of betteries in series. However, it sounds NOTHING like a good Precision pup in the way that there are all of those lovely overtones and bark, it's louder and has more bass. Mr Cougar Posted August 14, 2007 Author Share Posted August 14, 2007 At the moment it's got some of those Basslines pickups on it, I'm not sure which ones since they were on it when i bought it, the otehr option would be to find a set that mimic the originals as closely as possible, there's just something i don't like about the bass lines ones.
