i bought this around 2 1/2 years ago off ebay and was pleased with the pristine condition and have kept it and cared for it since
serial number E50436..Okay, straight from ernie ball's customer service guy, Dan: "This lovely white StingRay 5 was built on 1/13/06. Shipped to Midtown Music, Decatur, Georgia."
it comes with the standard case and the bass is fitted with straplocks
i may consider a trade down market as i am not playing a lot and if i do will go back to a 4 string
i am in southwest manchester eccles way if anyone wants to view and try
otherwise an extra for postage i would have to charge and this would be at net cost insured

£850 i hope is a fair price for this instrument plus the delivery
Would you consider a trade for a Fender 'Sting' Precision, pretty much as new condition ?.
Plus cash from me.
i have been looking at a 51P and decided it was not for me...thanks for the offer though

well interested in your SR5

anthomp
i want to go back to a 4 string
and having been watching here see a lot i do like and am not an expert on all the models
ibanez and fender jazz seem like a good route
i really am open to any suggestions and havent set my heart on anything particular
i would like a natural finish bass with maple neck and 4 a side tuners...finicky 'B' ;)

my wife of course just wants me to sell it
AND GET A NEW BASS..she's a honey

The 'Sting' bass is a '54 reissue, it has a sculpted body so it's more comfotable to play.

I may have a buyer anyway, so I might get back to you in a day or two if this doesn't sell in the meantime.

good luck with that...no offence but i didnt like the idea of dismantling the bass to do the truss rod adjustment
is that the case with the sting model?

the stingray is body end adjustable but has a pocket and easy to turn nut to do the truss set up

i do this myself and all my set ups

the sculpted body i didnt know about...and sounds more sensible than a wrist breaking slab model...
i guess thats why there is a 54 model.. ^_^

cheers

The truss rod adjuster is at the body end of the neck. There is a cutaway in the scratchplate so it's accessible and Fender very kindly supply an adjuster tool as standard. It's a kind of long ball ended Allen key with a T handle so tweaking the trussrod is a doddle. I owned a '62 Re-issue Jazz and very quickly got fed up with having to take the neck off to adjust it. f*** that.

I'm only getting rid of it because I just prefer the Precision sound and since I got a Precision I don't pick up the J anymore.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a 5 string for a while and I like the Stingray sound so it seems like a good idea at the moment ;)

Give it some thought. The main problem I see is that you're in Manc and I'm down here so it would be logistically difficult. Don't worry if you're not keen, I'll probably put it up for trade in a new thread.

I'll put some more pics up later.

good info andy...
i did wonder about being so far apart logistically..i guess swops work best when both parties are in personal proximity..50 miles etc
put it up on the forum and i can think about it as well
my better half is still emphasising i should really sell ...then buy a downmarket bass since we dont play much now...she is sooooo logical
but GAS is something i will die with
best of luck andy
i will be watching and hopefully we both will get a clear sale
cheers
