How to strip paint?

Recommended Posts

I have an old Status Elite bass that bore the marks of years and years of gigging. A few years ago, I stupidly decided to paint it to freshen it up. I now regret this and want to get the paint off. Does anyone know how to achieve this without ruining the paint underneath?

Magic? If the original paint had a protective layer you might, but if there's dings etc then the protective coating around those areas will be compromised, so you'll never get an ideal finish.

Depending on the paint type, you might be able to buff it off, but getting into all the nooks and crannies could be a challenge.

An alternative could be a complete strip and refin (maybe even by Status?).

A plan-B could be to sell that bass and get another...
