Steinberger XQ-5 '96 USA [Bartolini/Sadowsky] "TN" Gibson Tennessee serial
£1400
MODICA

Recommended Posts

FOR SALE [1600€, Euros] this awesome Steinberger XQ-5, made in USA. Ash body, famous Graphite composite neck.

The serial is TN-16069, model XQSTD5CB, cherry burst, dated June 2, 1996, before of Steinberger by "Music Yo" with Moses neck.

Completely original except for the preamp which is a Sadowsky equivalent with the possibility of Active/Passive mode, purchased separately, and a screw at the top of the bolt-on which has been replaced and has a double battery compartment.

This model with the Bartolini has a really good attack but a more balanced and softer sound than the brothers with Duncan or EMG.

Perfectly working. Original soft case included.

Built in the famous Tennessee plant, under the supervision of Gibson who had taken over the company and who continued to use the components of the previous Q5 models. Definitely more aesthetically pleasing (for this reason in fact Gibson had imposed a change of products line), and lighter as it has an ash body, with a very firm and balanced sound, with woods supplied directly by Gibson stocks, they are in fact even better balanced compared to the previous Q models that instead have a maple body.

Hi, yes my friend, in my opinion Bartolini PUs gives a softer and more balanced sound and touch than the EMGs one. 🍻

i bought it with the pre amp installed  and it's aguilar obp-3 , bass and mid's are the best ... treble not so good !

Ok! When I bought this Steinberger an Aguilar OBP-3 had been installed, but I give you the reason, the sound on the high was not great, I installed this Sadowsky preamp which I like best and it has the possibility of active/passive mode, on the frequencies it plays very well.

That would be a dream bass for me.

It's an awesome instrument and always very clean and dynamic in sound, unfortunately I already have 3 headless basses and 9 basses at home, unfortunately I am forced to "make space". If you need any information, don't hesitate to contact me...

These are the proper 5 string neck and bridge/ pickups. The L2/5s were 5 strings on an already tight four string neck.

Sadowsky NYC Deluxe 4-21 flame maple, caramel burst, with a Pau Ferro fingerboard. 4A flame maple top, 2 band eq with VTC. Weighs in at 7lb 15oz (3.5 kilos).
I bought this new for £3,600 five months ago to be the bass to end all GAS, but after a few gigs (without it, it’s never left the house) I’ve realised I won’t ever use it in the sort of places where I gig. It’s immaculate, and is staying that way.
Any trial or test is most welcome. Here’s a link to the original BassDirect ad:
      http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sadowsky_DLX_Satin_4_Caramel.html
A trade with a Spector plus cash may be of interest. Happy to ship anywhere (I have the Sadowsky case and box), but I want the money in my bank account before it leaves here, and I’d strongly recommend a quality courier and insurance.
I’ve cribbed some of the super sexy BassDirect photos, and a real world one they sent me. I’ll get some nice ones done outside if it ever stops raining here.

For sale is a Steinberger Spirit XT-25 fretless. I bought this on the 'Bay a while ago, something of a spur-of-the-moment purchase. It's actually a lovely bass with great tone and playability, but I slightly overestimated my abilities on fretless, so it hasn't had a great deal of use! I know they say you should persevere with these things, but I'm getting old and cantankerous, and I'm looking for the path of least resistance these days...
I can't seem to find a new fretless version of this bass online, and it's not listed on Steinberger's website as a option, so the fretless fingerboard must have been added later. If so, whoever did the work made a nice job of it.
It's in good used condition (see photos) with a lovely rosewood fingerboard, and everything works. It plays beautifully, and sounds great. Comes complete with its gig bag. The price is £275 £250 including shipping within the UK. Sorry, but I'm after a straight sale, so no trade offers please.

Up for sale is my SKC Bogart Sport 5-string headless. I bought it on here early last year, and after using it on a string of festivals over the summer, liked it so much I had another one custom made for me by Stefan, and unfortunately I just can't justify keeping both.
It's in excellent condition, with no marks, chips or dings. These are seriously good basses, with great consistency and tonal range. It's currently fitted with D'Addario 40-125 nickels with a nice low action. Being headless, it sits on the knee or a strap beautifully, and at 3.4kg you hardly know you're wearing it.
      Here are the specs:
      34" scale, zero fret
      Rosewood fingerboard
Blackstone body in off-white satin finish
Carbon graphite satin finish woven neck
Bartolini J/MM pickups with single coil/parallel tap switch on bridge pickup
Noll TCM3 3-band preamp with active/passive push/pull on volume pot
It comes with a good quality gig bag.
£1195 including UK shipping. Please message me for a shipping quote to anywhere else. Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades.

      Howdy Basschatters.
Due to a looming tax Bill,   I'm afraid that I need to raise some funds quick smart....
Purchased new in October 2019 after a very long wait its everything I expected and more.  I have owned a number of Sadowsky basses previously and this is easily as good,  as a Metro and much lighter in weight.
5 string bass in classic Olympic white/Tort.  I've played this on a handfull of gigs and its in superb condition and has been kept in the sadowsky soft/hard case that comes with the bass when not in use.  Super lightweight and fantastic super jazz.  Plenty of reviews online.  I will include a copy of the receipt so that you have the warantee etc.
      Collection from Birmingham preferred,
I do travel extensively around the country so there is a chance I can deliver on route possibly,  or would be willing to meet half way etc.  I'm happy to work something out.
after a recent issue with a courier I'm not really keen to post but if its a deal breaker then I'm sure we can come to some arrangement at the buyers risk.
I'm not looking for trades sorry, Its cash I need to pay the taxman.
      Looking for £1575.00
These are retailing for £1899.99 so I'm offering a saving of nearly £325 on a new one.
I'm more than happy to provide any more details, photo's etc
      Thanks for looking
      Here's the fluff.......
The MetroExpress is made in Japan to Roger Sadowsky’s exacting standards under the supervision of Yoshi Kikuchi. Roger and Yoshi began working together in 1993, when Yoshi started a year-long internship at the Sadowsky NYC shop. In 2003, when Roger set out to launch his first line of affordable basses, Yoshi recruited a team of veterans from the Japanese guitar industry to set up a shop in Japan to produce the MetroLine series. Fifteen years and 10,000 basses later, Roger and Yoshi have established the MetroLine as the premier line of basses made in Japan.
Due to the overwhelming success of the MetroLine series, Roger chose to forge a relationship with one of the top factories in Japan to produce an even more affordable instrument. Roger and Yoshi spent the last 18 months working with the factory’s production manager, challenging him to make a bass worthy of the Sadowsky name. The result is the MetroExpress, your fastest way to a new Sadowsky!
