Hi
Do you have any pictures of the headstock? And maybe the back of the bass?
Is the neck on these satin or gloss?

Cheers
Tony
Hope these pics are OK Tony. The neck is gloss but it isn't a sticky gloss if that makes sense. I tend to play a totally lacquer free neck on my Warwicks and I've found this neck very slick. In fact I've had the neck of my main Warwick bass finished in a satin lacquer and there is no discernible difference between that and the Fender.

Maybe I need to get these guys http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...hlink:middle:uk to sell my bass on commission!

£1100 for an almost identical bass (might be just me but I prefer my black and tortie to their blue and white) and mine has the J-retro... they've got to be having a laugh.

Saying that, this one is probably nicer than mine :) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-JAZZ-BASS-REI...1QQcmdZViewItem
I am really shocked that this hasnt gone yet. If i could have afforded it i would have had it for sure.

Cheers Nick. I realise you couldn't stretch the budget but... it may all have been for the better.

Things may have changed on the 'For Sale' front :)
Really surprised it hasn't gone as well, its a lovely bass but too similar to my Geddy Lee with J Retro.. or I'd have bitten your arm off !
None more surprised than me!

As it stands I'm finding it hard to pick up my Warwick when this is sitting around (so damn easy to play and the sound...), I think I'm gonna persevere and try it at a couple more gigs to see if that body grows on me. The way the market for basses is at the moment I'd have to give it away (have you seen Ped's 5 string Jazzes!) and I'm not that desperate for the cash right now. Maybe things will be different after the summer hol's, if I still haven't reconcilled myself to the shape then with the prices being asked on eBay it makes me wonder if that wouldn't be the best bet.

I have two potential swap/trades in the offing but I'd soon have the cash to kit out my Warwicks with new preamps (yes, the J-retro is that good it's making me change the preamps in all of my Warwicks).

I believe this'll be the final bump back to the top! Compare the price of the various other J & P basses here and on eBay (Jap ones for £100 less than this USA...) and you'll see that this is pretty good value and if you come and try it you will be knocked out by the action, playability and tone; with or without the J-Retro.

This beautiful Jazz is being offered for sale (by various dealers - not just V&R) for £15 to £15.5K.
:)
Which, considering its provenance, is actually less than I would have guessed...

I'd have a go at haggling to get it less than £15

After all mine had a J East pre and I had to let it go for £1.23 more than that
