Genzler Magellan 800 Settings?

Recommended Posts

Interested to know people's go to settings for this beast. Using mine with a Barefaced BB2 and running everything flat with a slight bump in the lows.

When I reviewed the 800, I think I bumped the lows a little and even added a smidge of mid scoop to suit the room I was in, though listening back to the video I probably didn't need the scoop after all!

Great amp. Very clean.

I run mine flat as well, except with certain cabs I dial out some mids around 500Hz with the parametric EQ in order to remove a certain tubbiness

in the sound.

Sometimes I also use the Contour up to one quarter in order to get a different flavor.

The ultimate lightweight combo for upright and electric bass! (8.7kg, 300watt combo)

These are no longer made and much sought-after as they are considered the "holy grail" amongst ultra light weight, compact, giggable combo's.

This one comes with an Accucase gigbag which is a perfect fit for the combo. Bass on one shoulder, combo on the other and you're good to go!

Only selling as I want to buy something a little bit bigger for gigs.
I'm based in Belgium, but due to the weight shipping in EU will probably only cost 10£.

Hi folks. After researching reviews but unfortunately not having the opportunity to try either. I am about to order the Genzler Magellan 350 and a TKS S212. Anyone run this rig? I did also consider 2 x S112 cabs. Appreciate your feedback.

Perfect, not a scratch. Inexplicably lightweight system. The original bag for the head is included in the price.

On tour, and was passing Leamington Spa, so naturally had to take a look in Bass Direct. Ended up totally smitten by the Genzler in the shop. Today it got its first outing at the Bullingdon, Oxford. FMOB - it's a little beauty. Clear, articulate, trouser flapping, deep but clear. Go and get one NOW!!

      Genzler Magellan 800 -  £585 shipped
Unfortunately I won’t be gigging anytime in the near future so I’m downsizing my kit.  First up is my Genzler Magellan 800.
There’s lots of info about these online and on these hallowed pages.  A very versatile amp but unfortunately now surplus to my needs.
PREAMP – dual channel, all solid state analog design with integrated soft clip circuitry. INPUT– 1Meg ohm input impedance INPUT PAD SWITCH – attenuation of -8.5dB CLEAN CHANNEL OVERVIEW – Voiced to provide natural, pristine, transparent reproduction of the bass instrument. DRIVE CHANNEL OVERVIEW – Voiced to provide a more “driven” tonal signature and harmonic content along with a softer top end and more relaxed low frequency response. CONTOUR — continuously variable control of 2 vastly different response curves. In either CURVE position, when the SHAPE control is all the way off (CCW) the response curve is completely FLAT.  Curve A (Blue) — a variable pre-shaped curve that boosts lows and highs while simultaneously cutting mids.  The slopes are fairly gentle which keep the tone shaping very musical.  This curve covers a wide range of sounds from flat to classic to modern depending on the position of the SHAPE control.
Curve B (Amber) — a variable pre-shaped curve with attenuated high mids and highs, a low mid bump, and a slight roll-off of the lowest bass frequencies. Again, the slopes are fairly gentle which keep the tone shaping very musical. This curve is intended to provide sounds in the range of vintage amps and vintage cabinets that do not have tweeters.
ACTIVE EQUALIZATION – The MAGELLAN™ 800 contains an active 3 band equalizer with a sweepable parametric mid-range frequency control.
Bass   +/- 15dB boost/cut shelving curve with a corner frequency of 75Hz Mid      +/- 15dB boost/cut of the variable mid frequency selected Freq     Variable mid frequency from 150Hz-3kHz Treble   +/- 15dB boost/cut shelving curve with a corner frequency of 6kHz
POWER AMP – The MAGELLAN™ 800 uses a state of the art, class D power amplifier design and a high frequency auto-sensing universal switch-mode power supply (SMPS) to achieve unprecedented high performance and lightweight packaging. There are no Voltage Switches to change or jumpers to move. This SMPS senses the line voltage from 100-240 Volts and automatically configures itself.
XLR Direct Output Mic / Line Switch Pre / Post EQ Switch Ground Lift Switch Effects Loop Aux Input Tuner Output Head Phones Foot Switch — Channel switching (Foot switch not included) Dual Speakon® Speaker Outputs
      Power Output: 400W/8 Ohms, 800W/4 Ohms and 800W/2.67 Ohms Minimum Speaker Load: 2.67 Ohms Operating Power condition: 100 – 240V, 50/60 Hz Dimensions: 3”H X 11.25”W X 10.5”D (76.2mm H x 285.75mm W x 266.7mm D) Weight: 6.25 LBS (2.83Kg)
This head is in excellent condition save for a tiny amount of black paint missing from the marker line on the Master Volume knob.
Comes complete with the correct and brand new Genzler carry bag which has been used twice.
Sale Only - No trades thanks
Price includes shipping to UK buyers only or you’re quite welcome to collect from South Yorkshire for £570. I’m currently unavailable for meet ups I’m afraid.
